  1. Oh God this is awesome. Phillies fans up in arms against Papelbon, who has an 80% save conversion rate this season. Rivera highway detour?
  2. So what? It's a banned substance. Why he took them is irrelevant. And he's so religious that he cheated and only confessed when the authorities were hot on his trail . Join the rest of us in reality. And that's why i'm calling you a homer. Andy's a cheater, just like Manny was. And neither you nor i have any proof that he didn't continue using afterwards. That's a cop-out. Selig didn't tell them to cheat. Or i could first and foremost point the fingers at the players, who were the ones sticking needles up their ass. Stop making excuses for players just because you like them. Homer.
  3. http://mlb.mlb.com/images/players/525x330/467094.jpg Vs http://mlb.mlb.com/images/players/525x330/alt/456034.jpg Win!
  4. For the purposes of this discussion, if you get caught using, you get caught using. A guy may use once and get caught, and another may use all the time, but does that make him different in the eyes of the rules when receiving their respective punishment? Does the guy who only used once not get branded as a past steroid user? If you use and get caught, you got caught cheating regardless of your usage patterns. And for the record, Petitte's statement that he "only used to recover from a surgery" could be ******** for all intents and purposes.
  5. Also, while the injuries were freaky, the amount of time lost was excessive. That's just undisputable.
  6. You mean like going from 30+ Hr's in 2011 to probably less than 10 in 2013?
  7. Ever heard of Brandon McCarthy or Chris Young?
  8. So that's a valid excuse when negotiating? Missed time is missed time. Also, he seems to be a notoriously slow healer, which doesn't help.
  9. I'd rather use post count.
  10. You seem to be conveniently forgetting Ellsbury's health history. That's going to impact both his salary and the length of the contract.
  11. Check the join date. I'm not as scared of the Tigers as I probably should be. Obviously facing Miggy is always menacing but I just don't see them as too too big of a threat. I think we can take them.
  12. Goddamn you're a homer. Steroids are steroids.
  13. The Rays. Guess I hadn't been paying much attention to them but last week's series really opened my eyes. Their pitching can be very hard to beat. That being said, they're insanely hot right now and surely will cool off a bit and come back down to earth.
  14. The Tigers. Great starting pitching, dynamite offense, bullpen coming together.
  15. There's never going to be a "happy medium" to PED usage sadly. Where could you possibly draw the line there? That also takes away any legitimacy from any suspensions that would be handed out. Why would anyone take a suspension for PED usage when there are others using it maybe just a little less, or something.
  16. I'm one of the few Red Sox fans I know that would consider having Papelbon back. This is ONLY because I think at this point he would come at an all time low cost, but it probably would still be too much realistically. There's no doubt in my mind that Wilson would be the best opportunity just because it would only take money and not losing prospects or any major league players. I'm of the opinion that we can splash some money on Wilson to get him here without being completely irresponsible. A quick google search told me some of the teams interested and we can realistically outbid and/or offer a more appealing option than mostly all of them. Unless he just wants to stay in San Fran, which I guess would be realistic. The Tigers just traded for Vera, so they're one team out of the hunt for a closer.
  17. By scoring more run than the Rays.
  18. Does anyone know what's going on with Brian Wilson? I know he was out for awhile after needing surgery but I haven't heard anything about a team giving him a shot which I just found odd. As I said I would love for us to at least give him a try but I certainly thought I would've heard of some team trying him.
  19. To be fair here I wonder if he would've canned Boras if Jay Z wasn't another option as an agent.
  20. Next offseason, since the Sox will clearly exercise his option.
  21. It really depends on the seat location, I'd like a good balance of price but decent seats. Maybe like $80 per ticket. I saw a load of tickets on StubHub for that (or less) but I don't really want to sit in the 40th row of the bleachers. If this was a big game I'd say screw it and go no matter the location just for the experience, but I'd like this game to be visible.
  22. So what you're saying is that there's one guy who has a higher than #3 ceiling, and two guys for whom you have anecdotal account that says they may not be more than a #3, but not enough data to back up that assertion clearly . Okay.
  23. Yeah he'd been trolling something fierce for a couple days there
  24. He was ousted as Dutchy and banned already.
