  1. It's indeed a lot easier to get a COF bat than a catcher.
  2. Please please please please pretty please pay him 10/300.
  3. Funny you mention Lars Anderson's case, since Dojji was on record on this site as being against the Sox making a run for Teixeira given his presence. He's terribly inconsistent on his evaluation on prospects depending on how much he likes/dislikes them regardless of ceiling or talent.
  4. Dojji is terribly inconsistent. He's all about pushing the envelope with some of the no-name prospects he likes, but when a real one like JBJ comes along he's all about "not overrating prospects" and "not rushing them" or some other form of nonsense. Terrible.
  5. Really? I could not be more surprised about this. I assumed you'd want them to win the WS. It's not like you're an annoying Yanees fan or anything.....
  6. What are you talking about? Choo is a natural RF, not CF.
  7. An OF of Choo/JBJ/Vic or Choo/Ellsbury/Vic would be the terror of all things flying.
  8. That depends on what both want. And a lot depends on what happens with Napoli/Drew. I would not be entirely surprised if the Sox ended up with both Choo/Ellsbury, or neither of them. Choo is likely to get more money because he's a better overall ballplayer, but he's older.
  9. I think they will eventually, but they will probably be a lot more stingy about it. I think they're serious about their "build from within, complement from outside" philosophy. If Stanton was a FA, they'd be all over him, but the $$$ + prospects combination is very rich. To be honest, i think Choo is more up their alley and would not be surprised to see them sign him if Boras drops those ridiculous demands.
  10. I'm talking the financial commitment, not talent level or age. For the trade to make sense, the Sox would have to lock up Stanton long term, and it'd take some serious money/years to do it.
  11. We're going in circles here. Only time will tell, but don't be disappointed if it doesn't happen, because it's very likely that it won't. The stars have to align pretty well for the Sox to get Stanton, and you're oversimplifying the situation for the sake of pushing your argument. It really isn't that simple, as Palodios stated above. You get like this every time a big-ticket player becomes available, and it's very unlikely the Sox go down that road again after the clusterf*** that were the Gonzales/Crawford acquisition.
  12. ....and he'll stay in Miami
  13. Yeah just like they got Cliff Lee right? You're the one who's making these assumptions that they'll acquire these players based on ridiculous media speculation with zero regard for the other team's involvement or the Sox' actual needs. The Marlins are not a feeding tube for the Sox. They literally have no reason to trade Stanton right now with the lowest possible leverage after an injury-filled, sub par season. But don't let a silly thing like logic or common sense stop you from pursuing your Stanton wet dream. I don't need a "direct line" to BC in order to see that something is simply not going to happen. At least not now, since they could always sign him as a FA without giving up half the farm system. Care to make a sig wager like you did with Jacko? Let's see how incorrect my "definitive statements" are. Please stop. Also: A) Lol No. B ) You know that's not how it works, the importance of depth in the farm system for plugging holes other than the ones THE TEAM DOESN'T HAVE is pretty important. C) Even though every player has injury risks, Stanton has played less than 130 games two years in a row. That both gives teams pause about his overall health status and diminishes the Marlin's bargaining power. In what universe is that a perfect storm for a Stanton trade?
  14. Man this has just been a swell season.
  15. For the record, the Marlins pitcher got shown up on a HR before he hit his own. They had it coming.
  16. A's lost, Yanks losing too. Good times.
  17. Problematic assumptions: A) That the Marlins give up Stanton for that package. B ) The fact that the talent is "redundant". C) That Stanton, if A & B apply, stays healthy and productive enough to justify the trade. Sounds like a whole lot of ? and very little certainty. In the end, this is a wet dream that, like Lee, is just not going to happen.
  18. It's exactly because you're only looking at one year in the future. He's a great hitter, but he has legitimate injury issues and would cost way more than what the Sox should be willing to pay. You forget all about the "big picture" and "the future" or "keeping a healthy, productive farm system" as soon as you see a guy with star power who you like. First Cliff Lee, now Stanton. They're not a fit.
  19. "Please stop". Was getting old. I had to change things up.
  20. This borders on the ridiculous. You can re-sign Ortiz or explore other options, of which there are plenty. We get it, you like Stanton, but he's not a need.
  21. This borders on the ridiculous. You can re-sign Ortiz or explore other options, of which there are plenty. We get it, you like Stanton, but he's not a need.
  22. SFF is missing the forest because of the trees. The Red Sox lead the league this year in every meaningful offensive category except HR's, even though Ortiz missed a month, Drew was atrocious after being rushed back from a concusion, and WMB struggled badly. Upgrading a corner OF position is not a need, and even less so sacrificing a significant portion of the farm. Stanton is not a fit. This type of "it's a big name, so let's go get it" mentality is the reason 2012 happened.
  23. Quite simple, really.
  24. Manny's age-23 season was his second full season in the Majors. Stanton's was his fourth. You're stacking the deck for Stanton, and still missing the bigger point. He is not a fit. Why empty the farm for a guy with recurring injury issues who could be signed as a FA anyway? Because you KNOW he'll test the market.
  25. Yeah but Manny was healthy, and had better on-base skill, even though Stanton has more power. Don't fall into the fanboy death trap. He's not a good fit for the Sox. If you're going to empty the farm, do it for star pitching.
