    We'll never know exactly what happened with the Lester negotiations. What we do know is that they are stand-alone moves, and as stupid as the Lester offer was, the Moncada signing has the makings of an excellent acquisition.

    Lost in the shuffle is Hanley's quietly monster stretch. .325/.382/.638 1.020 OPS over the last 30 days. He's also bumped his OPS against righties to an above-average .749 OPS (108 OPS+).

    ...and have more complicated mechanics, and come from playing year-round baseball when their bodies aren't even fully developed, the usage of breaking balls has increased, as well as the quality of hitters, and of course, the amount of money paid to these guys. All reasons to try to protect their arm as much as possible.
