  1. 2008, but Cano was not healthy i believe.
  2. And i bet the Mariners get another big bat and pull the fences in a bit more than they did last year. I'm willing to bet a steak dinner Cano outproduces Ellsbury next year by 1.5 WAR (or more), more than justifying the 3 million difference in their 2014 salaries.
  3. On an un-douchey extension to my original post: Cano's last three years: Home: .913 OPS, 49 HR's, 58 2B, .542 SLG% Away: .896 OPS, 39 HR's, 77 2B, 525 SLG% I mean seriously, he's a product of NYS?
  4. It was a joke goddamn you. Not the calling out SoxSport on being repetitive mind you.
  5. Yeah it's 'cause actual contract details hadn't been announced, but it was reported Monday iirc. Still funny as hell though LMAO
  6. The Johnson deal was announced way before the M's/Cano drama.
  7. In this case, yes, because it's a discussion (along with the media money one) that's been discussed ad nauseum X3, and no matter how many times he's proven wrong, he keeps saying the same thing. Remember you're just a puppy dog 'round here.
  8. What does that have to do with the team the Yankees are fielding right now? If someone's being illogical, it's you. He's 100% right. Unless the Yankees make massive improvements to both their offense and pitching staff, the only standard they're setting is for teams with record-setting payrolls finishing in fourth place.
  9. Mclouth to Nationals, Feldman to Astros.
  10. Almost every hitter in MLB has better home than road stats in MLB, even including some who play in pitcher's parks. You don't know what you're talking about here.
  11. Carp is arbitration eligible.
  12. The problem is that you're both discounting the impact of a catcher on a pitching staff, and overplaying Salty's very mild defensive improvement. Nieves is the guy with the biggest hard-on for Vasquez, and he was the one to recommend AJ as a bridge option to his binky. There's something there that stats can't (and they're not very good at valuing catchers) identify.
  13. MLBTR reports that Napoli has received an offer from a team that the Sox need to match or exceed, otherwise he will sign with said team.
  14. Even though the Yankees have a financial advantage, they still have a spending ceiling, and this is indisputable. Paying "elite" player money to "very good talent" is never a sound business strategy, not even for the Yankees. If they operate in the financial stratosphere that you speak of, why let Seattle eat their lunch for Cano, and why simply not sign every major Free Agent that comes along, since winning should offset the cost of doing business? You know why? Because there's a limit, financially and roster wise. Read a couple pages back on this very thread so you can see my reasoning behind this.
  15. It really isn't, considering the extreme likelihood that Lavarnway flames out and then you have to spend money AND prospects to find a replacement mid-year.
  16. This is a logical fallacy. A bad signing is a bad signing. They grossly overpaid for Ellsbury and they probably didn't have to, since no one was touching even 6/120.
  17. The Mariners are probably going to go all in now. If they trade for Price, sign a power hitter, and trade from their stable of young pitchers for another one, will you be singing the same tune?
  18. Red Sox when they tried to follow the Yankee model: 0 championships in 86 years. Red Sox when they stuck to a strategy and stopped playing "gotcha" with the Yankees: 3 championships with 10 years. What you present is an exercise in poor logical thinking mark, specially at the current juncture, when the Red Sox are CLEARLY the better team and are coming off a WS
  19. Riiiight.
  20. As will, unsurprisingly, Fred.
  21. Thank God you're not running the Red Sox.
  22. Jay-Z: Agent of agents.
  23. I've been rooting for the Red Sox ever since i was a toddler, and i could not give less of a s*** about what the Yankees do unless it directly affects the Red Sox. I want them to fail, and the Red Sox to succeed, but the only for that to happen is for the Red Sox to stick to their plan and not give in to the urge to make stupid reactionary moves like the Yankees did with Ellsbury. The Red Sox' margin of error is smaller financially wise, and they are also in a better position than the Yankees. Why f*** that up?
  24. Friend requesting you right now.
  25. Was it supposed to be funny then? He should leave the humor to the professionals like BTR and you.
