  1. Thanks!
  2. That is an excellent question. But if i'm BC, after already flying over the lux tax would make me a lot less hesitant to take the big hit for Lee this season. As for what i'd give up, let me put it this way: My only untouchables from MILB are Swihart, Rodriguez, Owens and Devers. Hamels would require a richer package, but some combination of Marrero, Johnson, JBJ and a far-off guy with high upside like Ball and Chavis. Pick two/three depending on upside for Lee/Hamels. If they're not interested well they can go deal with someone else. All three of the MLB-ready guys solve needs for their current club, as well.
  3. This is a baseball forum, not an outlet for people to "gripe, bitch and complain". I am unhappy about the fact that they haven't acquired a pitcher, but i don't whine about it because it waters down otherwise enjoyable baseball discussion, which is the reason why we are all here. That's the thing i think you don't quite understand. This isn't a way to incite a war of words though, just letting you see what's the reasoning behind a lot of people's dislike for the bitching. It's not about the FO in and of itself. I don't f***in' know BC or any of the FO, or even the players personally (although i have bumped into Papi and Hanley), but i just don't come here to read ranting, whining diatribes. We can have civil discussions where you voice your opinion on what went wrong, where they failed, and what to fix. The rest is just food for flame wars.
  4. I agree that it will be a Phillies pitcher. I just think (hope?) it will be a healthy Lee instead of Hamels. I do think they get a pitcher either way though.
  5. While i think the Sox are well-equipped to take the division, I find Toronto particularly scary because they have a potent lineup, some very good innings eaters (Buerhle, Dickey) and a potential game-changing ace in Stroman. And Sanchez' potential in the rotation is also tantalizing. That said, the AL East is a "pick the order and pray for rain" type of scenario.
  6. I would be very surprised if the Yanks win the division with that fragile pitching and aging offense. I personally see the Jays as more of a threat.
  7. That depends on Swihart himself. If he's destroying AAA while playing above-average D, they need to make a call on him sooner rather than later. Prospects force team's hands all the time. Time will tell.
  8. You mean with essentially the same type of pitching setup that got the O's to steamroll the East last year? You're right. No chance.
  9. And African Americans, and Asians.
  10. I'd say wait until they start showcasing him then strike if he's at least apparently healthy. I agree with you.
  11. That depends on what the commitment would be for next year. They are going to take the hit this year either way.
  12. I don't think you understand the point. The Sox have shown a willingness to overpay players to shorten the length of their deals. And if healthy, Lee is a better pitcher than Shields, and that's not even in discussion here, regardless of age.
  13. Cespedes is a Tiger now. If you're referring to Castillo then i agree.
  14. Tell that to Koji. It's not chump change, but it's a worthwhile risk if he's even close to his normal self.
  15. Better pitcher (if healthy), shorter commitment. As i've said several times before, more money for less years is usually much better than more money for a longer commitment. See: 2013 offseason.
  16. The fact that he played in a league that didn't allow black people or Latinos in it ARE his roids. Talent pool was significantly thinned out.
  17. He's even more blocked in Philly with Asche/Franco and Howard's unmoveable contract at the corners. Their current SS is a decent 2B (Freddy Galvis). Marrero would cover a need and Johnson would replace Lee in their rotation. If they were to kick him some money, maybe then the deal could be sweetened.
  18. Yankees a top-10 offense? Would you bet on that, Jacko?
  19. I'd argue Bonds over Ruth, roids or no roids. *Hides in corner*.
  20. Marrero and Johnsonn for Lee.
  21. I see what you did there.
  22. They have the Mets as better than the Red Sox and Giants. Not buying it.
  23. Well I'm the one i care about, and you just admitted to insulting me and MVP. The proof is right there. Anyways, i'm not interested in continuing this back-and-forth unless it's about baseball.
  24. Hanley was training with Papi during the winter. He took batting practice and played the OF in an actual stadium. I don't blame him for choosing to train here.
  25. Lots of misconceptions here: 1) I said you were negative. You said i suck BC's ass. If you can't see the monumental difference between my observation and that flat out insult, well, that's your problem. 2) You insult people. Don't say that you don't. I will take the olive branch and we can ignore each other/disagree with civility, but let's be honest here. 3) I have a700 on ignore. When i call him out a significant amount of the time he's said something about me directly or indirectly and has been quoted. 4) I don't really care what you think about me, but let me clear something up: I've said this several times. I don't agree with everything the FO does. I didn't like the Panda signing, and i want Lee, which they will not get. The problem is that i think it's a massive waste of time to bitch and moan about things that i want and don't happen when we could be analyzing the current team or other scenarios. This is a site for the exchange of ideas about the Boston Red Sox and baseball in general, not an outlet to vent about everything people don't like about the team. It's a huge turn-off, and the reason why a lot of good posters have left this site. 5) Your definition of objective up there is correct, but your usage is not, because no one here is objective about the Red Sox. We all have inherent biases towards the team and its players/coaching staff/FO. If you want objectivity, go outside the Red Sox fandom. (Not to Yankee fandom of course) 6) About my sig: It's there because it's funny that people get riled up about it like you just did.
