  1. Reports indicate that the Braves are very much interested in JBJ, mind you.
  2. See: 2013 Red Sox. That superstar-less team didn't accomplish much, did it?
  3. ^I'm surprised that took so long.
  4. ....or you can upgrade other areas and mitigate the impact. We get it, you want to complain and let us know you think the team isn' that good, but at least be logical about it.
  5. Hamels is exiting his prime, is really expensive, and has a terrible track record against the AL.
  6. I could literally not disagree with you more. Maybe for a younger, cheaper pitcher.
  7. Well "strong link" to them. There's no actual evidence that he or Bagwell did 'roids.
  8. You know the real reason. Piazza, like Bagwell, is a suspected steroid user. If you dig around for a bit you'll see voting members to the HOF flat out condemn those two specifically because of a strong link to steroid use.
  9. Well I actually see it the other way around. Had Boggs played his entire career with the Sox, you'd probably have a different opinion about his numbers. Also, one thing that really helps Posada out is being one of the best-hitting "catchers" in baseball history, being in the top-15 in several Yankee career appearance categories in the leaderboards, and of course, the rings.
  10. Remember SK, Gallardo got moved to the Rangers, so he is likely no longer an option for the Sox unless Texas absolutely tanks.
  11. If you're good enough for serious HOF consideration, you're good enough for a team (if you've played your entire career for said team) to retire your number. IMO, team Hall of Fames are just a notch below (requirement wise) of the actual Hall of Fame.
  12. Cherington has said something. He has said he is very much satisfied with the current pitching staff, which is exactly what he SHOULD be saying:
  13. Contributions to all of those championships plus a 121 career OPS+ really enhance Posada's case though. His D may have been weak, but the offensive numbers are pretty extraordinary.
  14. Alright, this is a fine topic of discussion and i was just trying to troll Jacko. Posada and Bernie both deserve to get their numbers retired, but AP has the steroid stigma over him and shouldn't get in IMO because he wasn't good enough to overcome it either ways. Manny talked himself out of the Sox HOF. Papi should get in, even with the PED cloud (unconfirmed anyways) because he's been one of the greatest Sox hitters ever, part of three championships after the WS drought, and a model citizen. Pedro is a no-questions asked entry. After that, the water gets a little muddy, but Pedroia's the most likely candidate.
  15. But dad, I'm trying to make fun of the Yankees fan!
  16. That's the point: Who cares? Let teams induct whoever they think is worthy. This thread is just flame-bait for Yankee super-homers, which means an immediate reaction from you brah. Lol.
  17. No Red Sox official has talked about their interest in dealing for a pitcher. The media and we, the fans, are the ones doing the speculating. BC has been admant about his trust in the current pitching staff.
  18. I'm just amazed at how personally Jacko takes it, even if he is a Yankees fan. "Don't be hypocrites guys, or I'll cry"- Jacksonianmarch
  19. Intangibles! Posada had +5 leadership, +5 "True Yankee pinstripes", and +5 Jeter-like intangibles. A recipe for enshrinement! Seriously though, why is this an issue?
  20. There's a difference between realistic and outright pessimist. You're a good example of the latter.
  21. I see what you did there.
  22. Are you surprised?
  23. Because he was under team control either ways, and they got a discount by going the extension route instead of year to year. High IP totals pretty much guarantee big arb raises.
  24. Your post said 2014, hence the confusion.
