iortiz doesn't know what consistency means. Consistency is what the Sox did to build their current starting rotation. Whether or not it was correct remains to be seen, but it was consistent.

Fred, you can't have your cake and eat it too. If you want Betts/Swihart to stay, the Sox aren't getting Hamels, and your whining (or a700's, color me surprised) isn't going to change that. People "take you to task" for your criticism of Ben, because you are not intellectually consistent. You can't shout from one side of your mouth that Ben shouldn't sacrifice top guys like Betts and Swihart, then whine that he's sitting on his thumbs when you know very well that's what it would take. Be consistent.

Honest question: Do you actually follow baseball? See, there are three points to Porcello's contract: Age, health and past performance. If you take those three components into account and look at prior market history, it was literally almost impossible for the Sox (or any team for that matter) to get Porcello at much less than 20 million per and less than 6 years. Overpaying in money for less years is a way to minimize the inherent risk in pitcher contracts. It's a simple concept. If Porcello ends a 180 IP, 4.00 ERA pitcher, the overpay isn't even significant enough to be worth mentioning, especially considering his age. You can't just throw your hands up and say "I don't care what the market is", because if the Red Sox don't maneuver around the limitations of the market, they would get f***ING NO ONE. You're smart enough that such a dumb assertion is honestly surprising.

Even if we put people on ignore, other people's quotes sometimes force you to read theirs. Also, (and Iortiz is the number one culprit of this on the site) some people here just love to needle and talk s*** then get offended when others fire back.

I am going to tell you the same thing I tell every one of my American friends who comes visit me in the storage of industrial-level crazy that is the Dominican Republic: "You are trying to apply logic where logic does not apply".

And neither does Porcello's, especially considering their obligations after this year.

Betts should be kept in the leadoff spot. Even though he's struggling, he generally puts up great AB's and he's putting the barrell on the ball consistently. That kid can hit.

It's like some of you don't actually watch baseball. It's been a while since 20 million stopped being "ace money". In the current landscape, 1A money is a hell of a lot closer to 30 million. I also can't help but be annoyed by how inconsistent iortiz' thought process is. Actually, scratch that. He's very consistent at being a f***ing whiner. If Porcello has a good platform year, his price would have soared to 110/6 easy, a price the Red Sox weren't going to match. Then, if they let him go, he would have been bitching about them letting him walk through FA. You're always whining about them spending money. When they do, you complain. Shut the hell up and let Porcello get through at least a couple of months here, for the love of the Lord. Same goes for the whining about Miley. Miley's K/9 and GB% were excellent last year, but he's been playing for s***** defenses the past couple of years. There's bound to be an adjustment period for most of these guys switching teams and everything. Give it a f***ing month at least, Jesus Christ.
