  1. How are you this bad at common sense? Everything is not about "now". Keeping Lackey would have clearly been smart in hindsight, but both Shields and Lester will be albatrosses by the end of their long, expensive contracts, as it almost always happens.
  2. This is a good point, but not entirely correct, as the Rays, A's, and to an extent, the Cardinals can attest to. You can develop/trade for your pitching, but it's not that easy.
  3. Did you even read her post? She clearly stated that the pitching staff would need to be upgraded.
  4. Lackey's the loss that stings, since he's pitching for the league minimum.
  5. I need to move either a 1B or a 3B. I have a productive bat sitting on the bench on a daily basis.
  6. You claimed victory too early, young pup.
  7. What stats? Don't just pull things out of thin air.
  8. Nice try, fire crotch, but we know all of you soulless bastards are assembled on a factory in Cleveland. The parts used to assemble you come from China. You can't fool me.
  9. I agree, but Sox fans are, for the most part, absolutely terrible as well. Specially the "transplants" who go out of their way to be *******s because they have to overcompensate in order to "prove" their loyalty to the team and not be labeled pink hats. Why other people's perception of whether or not you are a "True" fan is important is beyond me.
  10. Most Red Sox fans are entitled whether you've been watching for 50 years, or five. It is what it is.
  11. That's still full of logical leaps and bounds.
  12. By the way, whoever complains about Mookie needs to be taken to the firing squad. He's the one guy who has legitimately been a victim of bad luck. He's been stinging the ball to all fields and providing good AB's on a consistent basis against both righties and lefties all season.
  13. The stats say they suck so far, and predict them to keep sucking. I don't understand how, when it's clear to both the naked eye and the statistics, that they've been terrible, we can turn this into a stat hate-fest. They are not making solid contact, and it's not a fluke, it's a team-wide problem. They keep grounding out and hitting weak liners and flyballs on middle-middle pitches, as shown by the Gameday and Brooks data from Thursday's game. Whatever problem they have, it's a team-wide problem, and needs to be corrected ASAP. That said, I don't understand how a team that should mash lefties can't mash lefties, or the futility with RISP. Some of that stuff is bound to correct itself, but it's not enough by itself to overcome the mediocre pitching. They need to mash. They were built to mash. Why aren't they mashing?
  14. It is, because you certainly aren't.
  15. Just at a loss for words here.
  16. Birth of a winning streak.
  17. I know statcast has a component that does it, but I don't have the specific name.
  18. ^This. It's not pitch selection or AB quality. They are swinging at pitchers in the strike zone, but it's been resulting in weak contact. If you check out last night's Brooks data, you'll be alarmed at the amount of middle-middle fastballs that resulted in weak contact last night. It's inconceivable.
  19. There are better fish puns. Try again.
  20. Offense is fine. The Red Sox are just sucking.
  21. A high line drive rate is a good thing. The Sox are 25th out of 30 teams, which is terrible. Because BABIP measures how many of the balls you put in play turn into hits, a low line drive rate is one of the most important factors explaining why the Red Sox are dead last in BABIP in the majors. Not a lot of hit balls find OF grass if they're not well hit.
  22. I like Pollock. I have him in a couple of other fantasy leagues.
