  1. Napoli, Nava and Craig way under the Mendoza line. Srsly?
  2. 1 hit against Sanchez? Are they f***ing serious with this BS?
  3. The real annoying thing (for me at least) is that they have guys who should be ready to contribute right about now down at the farm, but the Sox are just super conservative with their pitching prospects. Some of these guys (namely Johnsonn) would be starting in other organnizations. Move Kelly to the BP where he belongs, bring up Johnsonn and put Buch on notice.
  4. Nieves took the fall because it seems like pitchers tuned him out. That is a death sentence in this industry.
  5. Sox are sucking, people pissed. Tread with caution, Obnoxious Yankees fan.
  6. Fair enough. I like Miley better than Kelly regardless of velocity.
  7. Jacko is the dean of Make-s***-Up university. I just ignore s*** like that when he posts it, and focus on what little he says that makes sense.
  8. I think they should be given until the end of May. If they don't turn it around, time to hit the panic button. The thing that baffles me about the pitching in particular, is that the way they melt down in some games is just utterly ridiculous. Especially Buchholz. I think him and Kelly are toast. I think Masterson can live as a #5 with the diminished velocity, and Miley will settle down into at least serviceable. Porcello is good either way. They have some options in the Minors who may be better right now than what they're trotting out there. I was reading an article about Buchholz' advanced stats and how he should turn it around and I don't buy it. I'm a big proponent of stats but there are things they can't explain. Buchholz' mental issues are some of the things stats can't explain.
  9. Then what's the point? We're arguing in circles. We all know the pitching has sucked, but the "vaunted offense" has been anything but. The one point of disagreement we have in regards to the pitching is that you think the pitching is putting pressure on the offense, and I think it's the other way around.
  10. Logic? In MY Talksox?
  11. Since you don't like facts Jacko, let's see you dispute some facts: The Red Sox have lost 14 games so far, out of those 14 games: 1) 4-2 loss to Philly, Porcello 6 IP/ 3 ER, QS, dominated by the bastion of effectiveness that is Aaron Harang. 2) 4-1 loss to O's, Buchholz 6 IP, 2 ER 3) 2-1 loss to Rays, Buchholz 6 IP, 2 ER 4) 3-2 loss to Yanks, Masterso n 6 IP, 2 ER 5) 4-2 loss to Yanks, Miley 7 IP, 3 ER Those are only games where the starters pitched Quality starts. There are at least two other games which ended up with 5-3 and 5-1 scores. This team's offense is as big of a problem as the porous pitching, and there's no way around it.
  12. I'm looking at the stats, the sample, and the actual games. Two determinations: 1)They are not this bad, and they have, in fact, lost a bunch of low-scoring games. 2) This is yet another strawman, because the post in which I correctly called you out on making s*** up did not defend the rotation. They have sucked, and we all know this. As you always say: "reading comprehension is a must". To clarify my position since reading comprehension, as a Yankees fan, is not your strong suit: The offense is also to blame because they can't hit for s*** with RISP. They are putting more pressure on the pitching, not the other way around, straw doctor.
  13. Northern Star is the new Fred. May the Lord have mercy on our souls.
  14. Summary: If the Sox spend money: "Waaaaaaaah!" If the Sox don't spend money: "Waaaaah!" Either way: "I hate guaranteed contracts, the Sox should stop signing these guys who haven't proven themselves in Boston. They should also pay below market value, and get superstars on the cheap, and trade for other teams' superstars using our spare parts". They should also s*** unicorns. It's a strategy for a reason, and one that's been in play for a f***ing month. This is why Red Sox fans are now as universally hated as Yankees fans. Call the f***ing Whaaaambulance.
  15. It's May. I'm not trying to spin anything. Did you actually read what I wrote at all?
  16. Don't bother. iortiz doesn't actually understand WAR, nor does he understand the numbers discrepancy between hitters and pitchers. You are talking to a wall here.
  17. Pot, meet kettle.
  18. The problem with looking for a comparable for Porcello is that most pitchers don't get a shot at FA during their age-26 season. That was a very positive factor for Porcello.
  19. Also, you absolutely missed the point of the post. Read it again. I'm saying that whether or not they signed him before he pitched here, Sox fans are reactionary entitled brats (for the most part) who don't understand that some guys struggle out of the gate. Even if Miley ends up being a sunk cost (not nearly enough time to know that yet) he's a blip on the radar for a team with the financial might the Red Sox boast. In that respect btw, you are talking out of both sides of your mouth.
  20. More strawmen please. That post doesn't have enough. They signed him on the cheap before he even threw a pitch here, because as you point out in the post right below the one I'm quoting, if he pans out, he's a bargain, if he doesn't, it doesn't really affect them much. You're whining about them trying to save a penny when it doesn't really affect them that much financially either way. They just sign these guys to below-market deals in exchange for security. It's not a novel concept. Again, we're not reinventing the wheel here.
  21. What the hell are you talking about? They've lost a bunch of low-scoring games. Stop making s*** up.
  22. The more they pitch, the more expensive they get. The problem isn't the DH, or the park or whatnot. A lot of the time these guys have an adjustment period which is to be expected. The problem is that Red Sox fans are ready to judge based on ST stats, let alone give a guy a full year.
  23. I don't think neither a700 nor iortiz understand what a "fact" actually is, or a standard for that matter.
