  1. And I'll be totally honest, I'm not that high on either Carrasco or Salazar (I like Carrasco way better, but he lacks the numbers and overall consistency to back up what he's going to cost in a trade IMHO). Give me Price without draft pick loss please. They are going to spend big on a pitcher anways, whether an extension for a young ace, or an FA splash. Might as well do it for the guy who only costs money (literally this time) still has prime years left, and is a model of health and consistency.
  2. The old guard (Elktonnick, a700, Spud) and even the goddamn Yankee fan and "let's rebuild" Dojji defending the deal and the GM. The optimists (Palodios, Kimmi, Cycles) lambasting the GM for it. I.....I just can't. Is this real life? Nothing makes sense.
  3. Why are you even talking about OF's? We have more than enough OF depth. It's the pitching.
  4. Hanley as a standalone move to play 3B would have probably worked out way better.
  5. Weren't you preaching fiscal conservativism and a mid-range rebuild a couple months ago? Now "they should act like a big market team". Did your outlook on the team as a whole improve, or what happened? Because the inconsistencies in your thought process are very confusing.
  6. Buch is likely to get traded IMO.
  7. So sk and Kimmi are whining, while Spudboy, a700 and Dojji are all positive and s***? Is this real life? Mind you, the aforementioned three are kinda misinterpreting the first two's points. Glad to have Kimbrel, but the package was outrageous. However, I am being conservative with my opinions here because of DD's long list of succesful trades. He's usually right when evaluating the prospects given up in these types of deals. We will see.
  8. Everyone likes Kimbrel (and they should, because he is awesome) but some don't like the price paid for him.
  9. Hate it when I'm obligated to agree with a700.
  10. Papelbon? Are you serious. Washington can't give the guy away. O'day would be a good get, and Clippard looked very suspect the second half of the season.
  11. DD clearly trying to detach the "can't build a competent BP" button from his shirt. See the logic, hate the deal.
  12. Price, for 200+. He is the picture of health, not Greinke, and won't cost a draft pick. No one here will like the contract, but it's going to happen.
  13. Also, Price is coming to Boston on a deal that will exceed 6 years and 200 million. Deal with it.
  14. Everyone should have expected this. Dombrowski has never been shy about dealing prospects. Good news is, he's usually right on the ones he deals. We'll see.
  15. I like Miley. Always have.
  16. I still like Miley and hope he doesn't get traded. They really need to work on his ability to maintain his tempo though. When he's on, he's capable of gems like the one he pitched last time out, but it's too easy for tough opponents to get him out of sync and put up crooked numbers during big innings. Kelly's live arm is definitely better suited for the BP. Closer of the future if you ask me.
  17. Why is it so hard to respond to what is actually said, not what you arbitrarily think was said so it can fit your narrative. Cut that s*** out.
  18. You pan essentially everything the Red Sox do, so that's no call to fame, fine sir.
  19. pruneface, I love ya bro, but you take this s*** (and yourself) way too f***ing seriously. Lighten the f*** up. For realsies.
  20. The approach of the team as a whole was problematic. As you mentioned, there're some coaching issues that need to be addressed. This team's problems go way deeper than the roster.
  21. A rotation of Cueto-Rodriguez-Shields-Miley-Porcello backed up by Owens/Wright/Johnsonn sounds decent to me.
  22. Hanley's first and Pablo's fourth (Matt Kemp and Pedro Alvarez are second and third respectively) but your point stands. Gross.
  23. Ortiz was not a big free agent deal. Quite the opposite. Ramirez, on the other hand, is a good example of a big-money deal that worked out.
  24. I f***ing hate Oliver Perez.
  25. It's almost as if Castillo's problem was just not playing a significant amount of competitive baseball for a long time before coming to the US.
