  1. Thank you! The rap on Iggy always was that he was moody. Even he admitted that he was not motivated as he should have been with the Angels which is why his defensive metrics dipped. It is too bad that he is not playoff eligible.
  2. One thing is for certain Cora is a heck of a lot better than the guy they had last year.
  3. I know I am in the minority but I still believe Devers can and will be a gold glove outstanding defensive third baseman. If you look carefully at all his errors they are mostly mental not physical ones. They either stem from his trying to do too much or rushing throws. Yesterday's error on the possible double play was a typical case. He rushed his attempt to throw the ball before he had a grip on the ball, causing him to drop the ball. Finally, I don't like the alignment Cora's uses on that shift. I prefer the alignment where the third baseman move to the right side of second and the shortstop remains on the left side. That way only one man is out of position not two.
  4. Like I said it is fifty fifty that he stays with the club. If he does stay I see him. as a role player.
  5. I think Duran is another example of group think. My first experience with this phenomenon in red Sox baseball was that great can't miss Red Sox prospect superstar Billy Consolo. I think they signed him out of high school in the early fifties He was their first bonus baby
  6. I hate auto correct
  7. Duran's inability to consistently hit major league pitching is his weak spot. Sadly it does not look like he will have an opportunity to prove that he can this year. I think it is at best a fifty fifty chance he will be a Red Sox come next April. There are too many variables to predict what will happen with this kid. Let's face it with Bloom few players on this club are going to be off limits for any potential trade deals. Besides Duran's hitting woes he really isn't a slam dunk at any position. Right now he may be able to play centerfield. But no one is calling him a can't miss outstanding centerfielder. 25 may seem young but in big league terms it does not give him much time to nail.his spot. To me Duran is looking more and more like a Blake Swisher or Will Middlebrooks, namely a kid who everyone was rooting for to find his spot but just never does.
  8. Verdugo had the worst day in the centerfield that I can recall by any Red Sox player.
  9. I will still take Iggy any day over Arauz, I have seen both play enough to know Arauz will never be a gold glove nominee or an All Star. BTW it was Verdugo's misplay which set the whole thing up. But I would still have Verdugo play center over Duran.
  10. Iggy has been hurt. I saw him play enough with Baltimore when he is healthy and when his head is right he is better defensively then anyone on this team including Bogey.
  11. Aruaz sucks he can not hit except bunt, his defense is marginal. Iggy can play when he wants to all star gold glove defense and hit 240 to 250.
  12. Iggy did the same in Detroit then he was tremendous in Cincy the following year. The rap on Iggy has been that he can be moody. He can have a great game then go in a funk. He would be risky as a starter but as a backup if properly motivated outstanding. There has never been a question about his physical skills. Quite frankly as a backup I'd trust more than anyone on the current roster to play middle infield.
  13. Arauz sucks. He has stone hands. I have seen enough of Arauz to know he isn't that good a defender which is why Bloom picked up Iggy who can be an exceptional glove man. Iggy can be better than Arroyo or anyone else Boston has including Bogey on defense.
  14. Who would you rather have as your backup utility infielder Iggy or Arauz or another Marwin Gonzales type. Iggy will be on the 40 man roster next opening day, bank on it
  15. Iglesias is a much better backup than anyone else on this club. Moreover I think he is playoff eligible.
  16. He may be a big factor in 2022.
  17. Very nice signing
  18. Jose Iglesias signed with Boston
  19. I agree! I don't think he has increased his marketability with his season thus far.
  20. I think the real question is whether Duran is worth more to some other club than he is to Boston. The only way to answer that question is to see what other teams offer for him this off season. I think it is fairly certain that his name will come in trade talks over the winter. If Bloom gets the right offer then he is gone, if not then he stays and gets to compete for the cf job next spring.
  21. So you agree that his defensive ability is questionable. Of all the players who have played centerfield for Boston in the last 20 years, he is certainly isn't among the better ones which is why he is trade bait. The only thing he brings to the table is speed.
  22. The point is that he is not an outstanding outfielder
  23. Remember Duran was signed as an infielder. He is a converted outfielder. To date his outfield play has been adequate but certainly not stellar.
  24. I am with you on this one . Duran is trade bait. There are better prospects over the horizon.
