How do you feel about him now that he's a month + into his second year with us?

The incident a few weeks ago where BV publicly questioned Youk's commitment...

It's as bogus as the slogan "Fenway - America's Most Beloved Ballpark"

I'm thinking if Middlebrooks puts up solid numbers over the next 2 weeks, he might just win the job. Bobby V. and Youk are probably not on the best of terms... The club could ship Youk out for a couple of prospects... Seeing as we aren't going to win anything this year, we might as well bleed the youth.

I think we should trade Youk while he still has some value. Trade him for pitching prospects, and move on with Middlebrooks.

Filling in for Youk while he's out....I'll be watching intently. I hope this kid turns into a player, cuz Youk is toast.

All these people who think CC is gonna be the magic potion we need seem to have forgotten how terrible he was last year. When he comes back, he's going to still be in a ongoing state of recovery, rusty as hell, and possibly just as bad a hitter as he was last year. Better hope Ross and Sweeney continue to rake, cuz CC is nothing more than a roll of the dice.

Did you bother to read the entire post, smart guy? Do me a favor and don't cherry pick my posts in order to make it convenient for you to fire off lame insults. I said they spend too freely at times, and then not freely enough other times, with the primary complaint being that those big signings weren't even good ones.

I look back at some of the guys who jumped ship, like Jason Bay and Victor Martinez...they probably had enough of the dysfunction and wanted out. It's only a matter of time until Ellsbury jumps too.You look at Epstein's RIDICULOUS signings....John Lackey.....had we waited a year, we could have signed Cliff Lee. DiceK.....$50M just for the HONOR to sign him. Crawford...the rotating SS scenario.... It's clear Cherington is just LL's water boy, so I can't blame Ben for anything. But the light needs to be shone on Mr. Larry Lucchino, who is not the astute baseball man he seems to think he is. And John Henry is just out to lunch, I can't take the guy seriously. He's just a nerd with a lot of money. What does Werner do, other than sound like a kazoo when he speaks? I almost feel bad for Valentine, he's walked into a situation that is beyond his ability to fix. The rot is too deep. The dysfunction too profound. Nobody seems to have a plan in place, signings are done willy-nilly, money is either thrown around carelessly, or reeled in when we actually need to spend. The whole thing is upside down. I can't recall things being this grim around here in a long time.

This team is not gonna make the playoffs this year. The pitching is a total shambles, the OF is decimated, the catchers are pathetic, the SS is a mediocre journeyman, the 3B is crumbling before our eyes....there is already a rift in the clubhouse, and we're saddled with idiotic contracts to Lackey and Crawford. What I want to know is if the PRINCIPAL owner didn't want to sign Crawford....why did we? We are the 3rd best team in the division, and we better get used to it.

I love Yadier. Underrated hitter, and the best defensive C in baseball right now. I have him on all my fantasy teams, and he's kicking ass.:thumbsup:

I'm not judging the merits of the "strategy", or even that it IS one, I'm just speculating that Youk's Ells-bashing might be a factor behind BV's comments...

I'm actually getting a kick out of Youk getting a dose of his own medicine... Youk went out of his way to bash Ellsbury's commitment when he was hurting....now Youk is on the receiving end...maybe within the framework of clubhouse protocol, BV was serving up a little payback...

You'll be fine as long as you don't draw attention to yourself in a bad way..Wearing Rangers gear is fine...but if you gloat if your team is winning or hits a HR, you're taking a chance that someone might throw something at you or worse, and that risk increases as the game goes on. But all in all, if you act respectful and friendly, you'll get it back in spades. Fenway is much different than it was in 1983....

I'm sure more than a few other people took a look at the scoreboard last night and began to wonder as well....and notice I said some* of the players, not all....
