  1. Seriously we have barely anything left to speak of in return for an all-star perennial mvp candidate in his prime. The Verdugo trade looks purely like a "we just want to get rid of this guy" move. You can hardly call 6.3m a salary dump when it's more like peanuts for a starting MLB player. That would place him at #37 salary for an outfielder. This feels like a get out of Boston Dugo and we'll take whatever sloppy leftevers you'll give us move. We even traded with the Yankees, an in division rival because we wanted to dump him that badly! So the question remains - what's next? Do the Red Sox finally bid for/buy the services of ace japanese pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto?
  2. I don't know who it will be but I just hope they pick a good GM who will understand how to run things in Boston. Pedro Martinez put it really well - you need a special feel for the game and the city itself to succeed there. Article on Pedro's comments: https://www.cbsnews.com/boston/news/pedro-martinez-what-he-wants-from-next-red-sox-general-manager-foundation-charter-school-dominican-republic-dan-roche-red-sox/ "You need to have a conduct that applies to Boston. You need to be proud to say, 'I am a Celtic,' 'I am a Bruin,' 'I am a Patriot,' 'I am Red Sox,' '[i am a Revolution],' 'I am an Eagle, Boston College.' You need to have pride when you come to Boston, like you are embracing Boston and giving max effort," said the 2004 World Series champ. "If not, then you are not probably well-suited for Boston. If you don't feel like Boston feels, then there is no connection."
  3. Good. This is the only message cutthroat businessmen understand— when the seats are empty and it’s affecting their bottom line. Red Sox fans are tired of losing. It was long time coming but we definitely needed a big change.
  4. I'm just glad to be rid of him. Hopefully we find a better replacement who isn't afraid to make the tough calls to improve the big club. Hoarding prospects is all well and good but you can't lose sight of the fact that the whole reason for the farm system is to benefit the big league club. And I was just never convinced that Bloom understood this.
  5. Agreed. But especially on point 6. The Red Sox are a big market team and carry one of the highest payrolls in the league but under Bloom they acted like a small market club and so couldn't compete to make the playoffs - missing out 3/4 years he was in charge. Bloom's problem is he never adjusted his mentality to fit the new reality of the Boston Red Sox. We are a BIG CLUB and we need to act like it.
  6. You can stop kissing Bloom's BUTT now! He's finally out the door!
  7. It's about damn time Bloom got the BOOT! He just doesn't know how to properly run a Big Market team. He was trying to use Tampa Bay tactics with a big market team and it didn't work AT ALL. We missed out on the playoffs 3 of his 4 years here. You can talk up the farm system all you want what really matters is the performance of the Big League Club. And for those of you LICKING Bloom's boots and defending him all these years! Well guess who was right about wanting him OUT all this time?! Good RIDDANCE!! I'm sure the Red Sox will conduct a thorough GM search in the offseason. I'm not sure who we will get but I'd rather go for someone we haven't used before. This entire organization needs a new approach and a fresh mindset. Hopefully someone who is somewhat proven and knows how to run a big market organization.
  8. Then you're not blaming Bloom for badly constructing the team on April 1st or failing to bring in any useful reinforcements at the deadline? So he never gets blamed for anything? How Convenient! You might as well give him a contract for life because Bloom is now Blameless!!
  9. We got destroyed by the Blue Jays! Naaah Bloom doesn’t care about improving the big club when he can just hoard more prospects! Now that we’re playing the big boys we are getting dunked on and the lack of reinforcements is glaring!!
  10. Did Henry also force Bloom to trade for Jackie Bradley Jr.? Because this feels like a repeat of that trade. How does this move help the Red Sox push for a wildcard spot and the playoffs? Please enlighten us!
  11. Seriously. Bloom is playing a JOKE on us! But the sad part is that it isn't April 1st!!!
  12. Bloom's best effort on deadline day brought in Luis Urias. "In 20 games with the Brewers this season, Urias batted a measly .145/.299/.236 with one homer and five RBIs (51 OPS+) while dealing with injuries." Great we just recently forgot how AWFUL the Jackie Bradley Jr. trade was so Bloom had to go and remind us by acquiring this Dumpster Fire at the plate!! Source article: https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/mlb/luis-urias-sent-to-red-sox-in-last-second-deadline-deal/ar-AA1eEQmf?ocid=msedgdhp&pc=U531&cvid=1853d557db1446738c6db19cfde8ccd9&ei=14
  13. Agreed. We'll hold a post-mortem then.
  14. I trust Bloom to make the wrong move. Who cares about being competitive now when you might be able to nab a future prospect or two who might pan out five years from now? Paxton is currently one of the stalwarts of our starting rotation with a 1.07 WHIP and 140 ERA+ so I fully expect him to be gone for a kid who never sees the big league roster by the time the trade deadline ends.
  15. The Red Sox are 2.5 games away from a wildcard spot. Why am I not surprised to hear the only news connected with the Red Sox is us selling players? Watch Bloom outsmart himself and maneuver us outside of the playoffs in his quest to stockpile more prospects for the minors. Don't look at our current performance, the future is bright, just give me a few more years to make this work!! Dude is a JOKE and his job should totally be at risk if we don't make the playoffs yet AGAIN!
  16. BTV is an interesting resource. From what I'm reading the Angels future needs are going to be in the outfield. How about this trade offer? It's a slight overpay according to BTV but it addresses the Angel's needs for midfielders with Verdugo for the now and Anthony for the future. Anthony, Casas, and Verdugo for Ohtani. who says no in this deal? Casas and Verdugo are already major league quality players and Anthony is a young top 10 OF prospect in the Sox farm system but at the bottom end of that 10.
  17. The rumor/speculation I'm hearing is massive offer from Red Sox for Ohtani. Basic gist Marcelo Mayer, Brayan Bello, Ceddanne Rafaela, and Triston Casas for Ohtani. If this deal gets done it would be massive and the Red Sox I think would have to agree a contract with Ohtani for a long term extension first. There's no way you commit that many resources to a guy who just walks at the end of the year. article here: https://clutchpoints.com/red-sox-perfect-shohei-ohtani-trade-boston-offer-angels-2023-deadline
  18. I just read that Red Sox could be sellers at the deadline and that Paxton could be moved. Sure, sell off the only good starting pitcher that we have? Makes sense when you're Bloom. It doesn't look like this team will get out of .500 and the basement this season. As long as we have crap front office, we'll continue to get crap results. This is a noncompetitive team right now. Zero chance at the postseason.
  19. The crazy thing about Wacha is he only got 4/26 from the Padres. That's an average of 6.5m per season. Wacha was one of the Red Sox best pitchers last year with an 11-2 record, 3.32 era, and 1.11 WHIP. This year Wacha is pretty much maintaining his numbers with a 3.48 era, and 1.14 WHIP. You can't seriously tell me that Wacha for 4/26 is a WORSE deal than Kluber for 1/10. A lot of head scratching moves by the Red Sox under Bloom who don't seem to understand that RE-SIGNING your own free agents is a valid option!
  20. Is this sarcasm? Kluber is currently sporting a 6.26 ERA and 1.536 WHIP. Red Sox are in the basement of the AL East again. Same as last year. Is anyone still defending Bloom and thinks he's still the right guy for the job?
  21. Bloom wanted to replace Bogaerts with a cheaper player in Story and overlooked the injury risks in his quest for cheapness. Now we're stuck without a starting shortstop and have to find a new one anyways either through free agency or trade.
  22. Bloom booed on stage as he tries to explain to Red Sox Nation why he traded Mookie Betts for Alex Verdugo and a bag of chips:
  23. Agreed. But incompetence is par for the course for this Red Sox organization under Bloom's watch. 160m dollars is going to waste. Looks a lot like the next Pablo Sandoval signing. Will we have to end up dumping talent just to get rid of his salary? Even if we put all of that to the side the question still remains - who's going to be our opening day Shortstop now?
  24. My only reaction is: RELIEF Finally we get to keep one of our top stars! He's entering his prime as well so that was a no-brainer deal. At least we got one move right going to the future.
  25. True. Corey Kluber was good... 4 years ago. A retread signing whom we hope can be the 4th or 5th starting pitcher. If he's in the top 3, we're probably in trouble.
