  1. Given the current control issues on this staff we might hit Seattle's pitcher while he is sitting in their dugout top of innings.
  2. If you really want to gag, wait till they put JD back in RF again.
  3. Can't argue with that. Not sure why they had JD in Left Center. Does not change where I have been on JD for YEARS NOW. Should not be out there at all.
  4. Well they certainly had JD well positioned for the lead off hit.
  5. Ain't that the truth.
  6. Dalbec could have given him a better feed. Both ends of that play SUCKED. God they look terrible right now.
  7. NESN crew musing about the possibility of help coming for the OF from the farm. I would normally say its a little early for that kind of talk. Probably justified this year.
  8. Gotta' love NESN. The silver lining from this game apparently is that Verdugo only had a leg cramp.
  9. If we keep fielding like we are that is going to put a lot of pressure on both the pitching and the hitting...really the pitching more than anything else. To my eyes, Verdugo is the only legit OFer we have and X is the only legit IFer we have. You can have the rest. Rafi is really disappointing me in the field so far.
  10. Only in Boston and possibly NY would the natives get restless if 5-9 are not either batting .300 or have an OPS over 800. The difference is that we could be 10 games over .500 and the natives here would STILL get restless if 5-9 were not performing to their expectations. The Yankee fans might be a bit less restless at 10 games over .500. We can come up with a rational here for the last guy in the order being stout at the plate.
  11. That would help. Seems to have gotten into his head and he has been anxious at the plate lately. He cannot hit that way.
  12. Teams are gonna' face a pitcher having a great day and silencing bats. Flexon is having one of those. Can't remember the last time he missed his spot today. The real issue to me is that I don't get the impression that anybody past ERod will match that sort of pitching performance and we appear to be Swiss cheese in the field.
  13. I can see the natives getting restless at 5-9 in the order.
  14. Hey what's wrong with 5 innings worked at a run an inning. I am sure they were not all earned but our starters seems to be trying to figure out if they want to go for a run per inning or a walk per inning. Must be quite a dilemma.
  15. Hey, we might still have JBJ at least at the plate. His name is Cordero. Lucky us! He looks so much like JBJ up there that it scares the s*** out of me.
  16. You really don't want to know.
  17. I like our best Ofer in RF at home too. The RH pitcher going for us should have made that the more natural call as well...which in my case makes me worry even more that Cora felt compelled to put Verdugo in CF today. When we had Betts it made sense to put JBJ in CF as he was a better CF than Mookie was. Betts was out of this world in Fenway RF.
  18. if this is going to be "our game" all year the bats are going to have to show up every contest.
  19. Verdugo is likely the best Ofer we have to put in CF. In fact I don't think there is any doubt about it.
  20. Our defense so far this year SUCKS BALLS
  21. Jerry Remi on about the benefits of the shift. "Got to be worth 10 wins against a lost game now and again when the hitter hits the ball to where the fielder would have been in his standard position." Jerry, its a zero sum game. One team wins and one team loses. If everybody is shifting, and they are, there is no winning 10 more games than you lose. You are right back to where you were when everybody stayed put except for special players in special cases.
  22. Cora is going to have to make sure X gets rest through the season. X is really going to be tasted keeping this team together in the field. Used to be he could concentrate on keeping Rafi from detonating to his Right. Now he has Rafi's all over the field, alongside him, behind him, everywhere it seems.
  23. Atta' boy X. Where would we be without X?
  24. I think I would say that at this point our defense is "suspect" and if we played an entire season this way a whole bunch of us would just upchuck.
  25. Blew it by him at 84 with the FB Eck? Isn't this guy's change 83! I would buy the hole in the bat excuse on that one.
