  1. His 4.55 FIP and 1.48 WHIP coming into the game suggest he wasn't pitching all that well even before tonight.
  2. I understand that Miller was rushed, but this is exactly how he's pitched for 5+ years now. What about his 5.68 ERA and 1.82 WHIP makes you think that anything's changed?
  3. At least the Yankees are losing.
  4. Lester also had cancer and was still adjusting to the major leagues. Miller's perfectly healthy and this is his 6th year in the majors.
  5. You stated there were a bunch of stories out there that Wilpon's being forced to sell the Mets and you can't provide a single one? Something smells like haddock.
  6. What about his 1.48 WHIP coming into tonight (same as Daisuke this year). That didn't jump just because of tonight.
  7. Can you link to a legit source that says Wilpon's being forced to sell the Mets?
  8. If we only had a better right fielder, we wouldn't be losing by 5 runs. Our pitching is fine. P.S. - Is anyone really surprised that Miller's results have finally matched his peripherals?
  9. Sox, Braves, Phillies would love Beltran but with the quality of teams they have it may make more sense to go after a "second-tier" bat instead of trading an elite prospect for Beltran. http://insider.espn.go.com/mlb/blog?name=olney_buster&id=6771754&action=login&appRedirect=http%3a%2f%2finsider.espn.go.com%2fmlb%2fblog%3fname%3dolney_buster%26id%3d6771754 Jeff Baker would make a lot of sense. He can play 1st, 2nd, 3rd, LF and RF he's under contract for arbitration prices through 2012 and he's hitting .375/.392/.528 against lefties.
  10. Concerned? I thought his track record of 11 good starts at the beginning of the season erased his last five years of bad play and made him an ace who is incomparable to similar pitchers who have struggled the last five years.
  11. He's also the best available hitter in a seller's market. They'll get a blue chip prospect for him and they won't have to pay his entire salary.
  12. As for the 40 man, I would argue that Navarro's also a blue chip. As for the Mets, I find it unlikely that they will be giving away Beltran for cash or trading Reyes at all. The best way for Wilpon to make the $200 million back is to keep fans in the stands. He can't just sell the team or the fans will stop showing up and his revenue will suffer. I bet he'll trade Beltran and some cash for a blue chip prospect and attempt to sign Reyes to an extension.
  13. Russell Martin told Ron Washington to let Weiters catch the second half of the All-Star game instead of him. Guess we know who to blame now.
  14. If Colon keeps pitching like this, they're screwed. With no A-Rod and much of the rest of the lineup struggling, their pitching needs to be perfect to keep pace with us.
  15. Jeter - .270/.330/.353 Granderson - .269/.361/.575 Teixeira - .244/.352/.51 Cano - .295/.342/.521 Swisher - .249/.367/.416 Martin - .220/.323/.384 Jones - .195/.278/.356 Nunez - .279/.318/.434 Garnder - .264/.348/.394 Brutal.
  16. What was that Yankees fan saying about how Colon having 11 good starts to start the season meant he had a proven track record of success?
  17. I heard Derek Jeter's racist and he hates puppies.
  18. They probably would for at least one game. Ortiz played first in both the World Series games at Colorado in 2007.
  19. Turns out the Brewers were in fact on K-Rod's no trade list. Makes sense that they dealt him quickly before Boras could do or say anything about it. http://twitter.com/#!/SI_JonHeyman/status/91587889040859136
  20. What about Edwin Jackson?
  21. There's an intersting rumor that the Mets wanted to deal K-Rod ASAP before he could come up with his misplaced list of teams the Mets could not trade him to. Also stated that the Mets were scared to death that Boras was going to somehow force them to take K-Rod's $17.5 million option by complaining to the players union if he did not meet his 55 games finished incentive. I'll post the source when I get home.
