It doesn't make sense that they'd hide him against lefties considering he's never had a problem hitting lefties. He's a career .440/.481/.630 hitter against lefties in the majors. It's funny how many people began making the claim that Cano was hands down the better 2B when he was having a career year and Pedroia was injured. That claim would look silly in virtually every other year of their careers.

I'm excited to see Weiland again. He got absolutely klobbered the other week but I'll give him a pass because it was his first major league start.

I haven't checked his splits lately, but isn't Reddick killing lefties?

At first I thought they were showcasing Reddick as a CF for a trade but then a friend pointed out that Ellsbury went 0-for-7 in the 16 inning game the night before and could probably use some rest.

If Youk's having trouble covering ground at 3B right now why would we move him to the outfield?

I really haven't seen enough of him in center to judge if he'd be capable of playing there full time. Defensively, he's a well above league average corner outfielder though so even if he doesn't hit for an .850 OPS he'd be a useful player.

The D-Backs are going to release Heilman. He would be an interesting fit for us because his largest issue this year has been home runs and Fenway is really hard to hit home runs in. His ERA is 6.88, but his strikeout and walk rates are much better than his career averages and his xFIP is 3.55. His velocity is down about 2mph but he couldn't be much worse than Andrew Miller.

Colon's given up 13 runs in his last 6 1/3 innings. Is this a big start for him?

Gonzalez leads in RBIs, hits, total bases, doubles, and extra base hits. Bautista leads in home runs and OPS. Gonzalez is hitting .358 w/ RISP, Bautista is hitting .239. Gonzalez plays gold glove caliber defense, Bautista plays average defense. Gonzalez has played in 93 games, Bautista has played in 85. Gonzalez plays on the team with the best record in the AL, Bautista plays on the third place Jays. I don't think that's the best way to judge who the most valuable player is but those are the reasons why Gonzalez would win the award if it was voted on today.

The Rays are 8 games back, why should Red Sox fans be worried about them? Perhaps it's different for you guys with A-Rod out and Colon struggling but we're leading our division with Lester and Buchholz on the DL and Crawford just returning. We don't have much to worry about. I'd prefer the Yankees fall a few more games back so we'd have a little bit of a cushion.
