What a terrible AB by Cano with Teixeira sitting on second. Price threw a fastball up out of the zone and Cano swung and missed. Price threw a fastball even more up and out of the zone and Cano swung and missed. Price threw a fastball even more up and out of the zone and Cano swung and struck out on 3 pitches nowhere near the strike zone. Garcia has 1 ground ball out through 5, time for the Rays to cash in.

The Mets are definitely going to get a blue chip prospect in return for Beltran. He's the best hitter available on the market and the draft pick compensation is way overblown considering he may not even be a Type A.

I would rather keep a .250 hitter with 20+ home runs and above average defense for a few years than give up one or two of our best prospects for a few months of Beltran.

There's no way in hell the Yankees were going to use Posada and Cervelli as their major league catchers this year. There's a much better chance that they would have traded for a Miguel Montero or a Chris Ianetta, both of whom are having better years than Martin.

There are much more effective ways to improve an offense than sitting a .367/.418/.671 hitter for a .293/.389/.523 one.

Jarrod Saltalamaccia is more than an average major league catcher at best. And at age 26, he has plenty of room for improvement.

No, no, you've got it all wrong. A catcher with an OPS that's .078 points above league average is clearly an ineffective and malodorous.

If Ellsbury continues to play good defense, we will extend him. The largest issue we had with him going into last year was his sub-par defense in 2009. -

If we need to trade for an additional hitter for when/if Ortiz sits in the World Series, wouldn't it make sense to address a position where we don't already have someone hitting .367/.418/.671?

Scutaro's been a good defensive shortstop most of the year. He's been dealing with a minor finger issue the last week or so that's affected some of his throws but it isn't reported to be anything serious.

His .737 OPS this month is even better than his OPS on the season.
