  1. Well, trading Shoppach seems to point to them saying they know they're done.
  2. Looks like Shoppach to the Mets for a PTBNL.
  3. Personally, I cut BC some slack since I am not privy to what could be done. I know he is a favorite whipping boy on these boards, but I am not sure what is available out there for him to trade for or the costs. I am quickly coming to the realization that this season is going down the drain. I hate it. I thought with the injured coming back it would have been a turnaround, but I am not sure I see it happening now. I don't know what the problem is on this team. They have the talent and team to be tearing it up, but just don't. I did like what Pedroia said after the loss, though. It's good to see him taking a leadership roll on the team, (at least publicly...as I don't know what he is like behind closed doors.).
  4. I wouldn't make that trade, but I am one of the few who believe that Crawford will be a plus for the Sox. Not trying to start a flame war. Just feel he will start producing at the level that we thought he would when he was signed.
  5. I saw when they walked Ross to get to AGon. I thought that had to be the biggest slap to the face he could have received, and it would wake up his bat. I was wrong. :thumbdown
  6. I hope I can hold out till all these MVPers get back from injury...We get like 6 of them right? Swept by Oakland? Wow! (I do think we will make a run at the playoffs...I just wanted to add my own frustration to this thread.)
  7. My personal opinion is that he has made the most out of what he was handed, (injuries, spoiled players, patchwork BP, etc.) I do like that he is up there and animated during games, (even if this is just his way of self promotion as some have alluded.). I am also old school and like that he wears a uniform and not some god awful pull over. http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a287/Rendragyn/awesomework.gif
  8. I think it's worth a try to see what he can do as a SP. I really hope Bard goes back to the pen when he returns.
  9. Just playing bad baseball right now. Makes it painful to watch. I don't know what the answer is going to be. I definitely do not see us doing anything this year unless there is some sort of change. I just don't know what that change needs to be. :thumbdown
  10. I voted very satisfied as well. I think AGon will fix whatever is wrong and be back to the All Star 1B both offensively and defensively.
  11. I will reserve judgement on this trade until Byrd gets at least a week playing...maybe more. My gut instinct tells me this was not a bad move.
  12. Not good at all. I would think if at all possible, Ellsbury will try to push it to come back. Isn't this his contract year?
  13. PM me...I'd love to help.
  14. He looked more like he was executing the Red Sox chances of winning the game.
  15. I was referring to the media of the 60-70's...Sorry I wasn't more clear.
  16. My personal opinion of him, and I admit this means nothing, is that he tries too hard to be like the Boston media of old. I think once this achieved some notoriety for him, he decided that this was what he was going to be. The sports writer that fans love to hate. It keeps him on everyone's lips when talking about the Red Sox, and he rides it for all it's worth. Is he really like that personally and privately? I doubt it. It just gets him more publicity.
  17. How long have you been a fan? Ever since my Grandfather invited me to watch the 1975 WS. (I was 8.) How did you become a Red Sox fan? I followed my Grandfather's team. The rest of my family were all Yankee fans. Who is your favorite current Red Sox player? Adrian Gonzalez Who is your favorite all-time Red Sox player? Probably Ted Williams...Dom DiMaggio for being so good and always in the shadow of his brother...Though, I will always love Kevin Millar. Who is your least favorite Red Sox player ever? Roger Clemens...I thought it was petty to make his departure personal. What state/country do you live in (to see how spread out the fan base is here)? Birmingham, AL...but I grew up in South Florida. What is your favorite memory being a Red Sox fan? Watching the '75 WS with my Grandfather, and in '04 when we won it all and hoping he got to see it from heaven. When was the first time you ever went to Fenway Park? Sept. 29th 2009...My wife gave me two tickets to see the Sox at Fenway for an anniversary gift and we made it a week long vacation to go to Boston. It was my dream since forever to get to see the Sox play in Fenway, and I finally got the chance. We lost, but my favorite player at the time, JD Drew hit a 3 run HR...Kevin Millar was there playing for Toronto...(We did clinch the Wild Card later that night when I think Texas lost.) http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/BOS/BOS200909290.shtml Who is your least favorite Yankee player of all-time? Probably Derek Jeter, who I respect for being talented. I just always felt he was a phony standing on the top of the steps and clapping so that he was always on TV. (You could say Roger Clemens for this one as well.) Any other comments that you would like to add? The Red Sox have given me some of the worst times in my life sports related, and some of the best. When I met my wife, she could not care less about baseball. Watching them daily on NESN, she became a die hard fan who spouts statistics better than anyone I know. She loves Pedroia.
  18. The captain should be whoever steps it up in the clubhouse, not someone arbitrarily named and given a "C" to wear. Just because Varitek had that on his uniform, doesn't mean anyone listened to him. The vacuum of a leader last year proves that.
  19. Yes, I am excited to see baseball starting up again. I love baseball season...
  20. I agree. I will never forget his grand slam against Cleveland in the playoffs. I think he took more criticism than he deserved because of his price tag. I always liked having him in RF and there was a time a few years ago when a lot of players were hurt and he carried the offense for a few weeks. Not trying to start a war about him...just stating my thoughts.
  21. Not a bad deal. I think it ultimately helps the Red Sox, with minimal traded away, (Although I don't know much about the other 2 minor leaguers were that we traded...third-base prospect Miles Head and pitching prospect Raul Alcantera.)
