    I agree. I am not emotionally attached to Lester. If they can replace his numbers adquately, then I will be fine. I just don't want to see them trot out a bunch of has-beens and never-weres like that time they had Smoltz out there. Do it right or admit failure. Half-assing the pitching staff is not going to get it done.

    $155million/6years vs. Red Sox offer of $135million/6years. Oh well. Move on to the next one. Get two top of the order starters if you want to compete this year. Anything less and the FO is just spinning their wheels.

    I agree with you, Freddy. I think this is also a reason so many Asian players have become so valuable. It's not that they have all of a sudden hit a break-through on talent. It's more that the U.S. market has been watered down with fewer athletes going into Baseball. (And of course expansion.) Just my opinion, though.

    I don't understand why pitching needed to be addressed first. I fully expect the FO to address it. You address your needs as they come available to be addressed. I agree SP wins championships. Let's see what they do about it before spewing vitriolic posts. If they sh!t the bed on pitching, I'll be right beside you complaining. Complaining now is like bitching in November that it's probably going to rain next fourth of July.

    I think the phrase is "low-cost, high-reward", which makes Fred's statement true. (Low risk in money/time and the hope of them being successful.) I could be wrong, though.

I have been a bit busy recently. Slight change in my duties at work, and my first child was born yesterday. (A little girl so precious that most things I once thought important only pale in comparison.) Who is reb?

    I feel pretty certain the FO gets us a #1 & #2 starter. I am pretty hopeful for next year. Whether that turns out to be, is another question. For now, though, I am hopeful.
