  1. They better try to sign him for 20/2 otherwise Papi would be eating Ben's lunch.
  2. I've been saying this over and over again Elk. As I said, I like Ortiz, who wouldn't want him back?, but out there are a lot of holes to fill first before the DH spot, regardless he can't field, and we are clogged in the books thanks to Theo. Call me pessimist, but the way they are executing in this offseason thus far, makes me wonder whether they even had a solid plan or strategy to face this offseason. Hell, they spent a lot of time in the manager and are about to spend more than the half of the budget in a DH and still a lot of holes to fill. I don't get it. Yes, there's still time but less options each time as the season is getting close. Hopefully I'm wrong and they have everything figured out.
  4. De verdad? No sabia doc. Por parte de su madre o padre?
  6. ...if starting does not work out for Bard and becomes the closer, who will be the #4? Let's say Aceves... Are they going to prove him as well or what? And again, who will be the #5? This is more unreal, Jung.
  7. It sounds like a CIA wire.
  8. Don't get me wrong, I'm not against Ortiz, but why not fill your #1 priority first and then if there's still money grab your DH. What is wrong from this perspective? Jung, we said that If they sign Ortiz they will likely go over the threshold... Instead, they are moving Bard to the rotation and probably Aceves as well, how should we read this between lines?
  9. I'm tending to think that it is #2. Hell, why? why? Spend 15 M in a DH who can't even field and leave your #1 prority (pitching) among a lot of good wishes/hopes/ifs? I really don't get it.
  10. I'm not sure how this Theo comp could be a key element to get Garza, unless you send some prospects as well. About the BP, still a complete mystery to me what is the damn strategy? Youk and Crawford better comeback. If they don't go over the threshold, who is this RH OF? As you said, this team better works as a clock next year and hope that a lot good things happen.
  11. I don't like how this soup smell Fred, at all.
  12. OPS Cabrera 2011 1.033 2010 1.042 2009 .942 2008 .887 Pujols 2011 .906 2010 1.011 2009 1.101 2008 1.114 Gonzalez 2011 .957 2010 .904 2009 .958 2008 .871 Teixeira 2011 .835 2010 .846 2009 .948 2008 .962
  13. I'm not sure how you look the numbers, but he has dropped his OPS. 2008 1.114 2009 1.101 2010 1.011 2011 0.906 Still, those numbers are tremendous. My question is, is this a tendency or not? I don't have the answer. IMO nobody has. We'll see.
  14. I got your point. I understand all you say about his numbers and all that stuff. My only remote concern is whether he already start or is about to start his decline or not, thats all. You say he is still in his prime. To me is not that clear. As I said, I need to see him next year in order to make a stronger case and emit an opinion since last 2 years for whatever reason he wasn't the #1. On the other hand, if you ask me, Can Bautista/Cabrera/Gonzalez, etc. finish above Pujols? My answer is still yes, they can. Bautista finished with a 1.056 and Cabrera with 1.033, Pujols? .906 last year. In 2010 Hamilton finished with 1.044 and Cabrera 1.042, Pujols? 1.011. Hell rethinking, Cabrera seems to me the most consistent than the others lately (last 2 years), regardless Cabrera is younger. Notice that I'm not saying that Cabrera or Bautista have been better career baseball players than Pujols neither two years is enough frame to make a call nor Pujols is not a safe bet. I'm just saying that this call is not an easy one as you are assuming, from my perspective. IYO when is the right time to drop guy's career numbers in order to forecast that the guy won't be the #1 anymore? When a guy hasn't been the best, lets say, the last 3 years? 4? ? when? As I said, for whatever reason he hasn't been the best the last 2 years at OPS, and that is a fact, reason why it opens the scrutiny, and the debate.
  15. the more the moon comes and go and comes back, and any move yet, the more the signs tell me that our pitching is going to be a complete mystery and with a lot of risks next year. I don't feel comfortable moving forward in that department.
  16. Can Bautista put better offensive numbers than Pujols next year? Yes, why not ? He just did last year.
  17. This is the only reason that makes me wonder about this call, reason why IMO is not an easy call.
  18. Well, we'll see Emmz.
  19. For me at this point is not safe or an easy call, beyond the name in order to say who is going to lead that stat or any other (offensive) next year. That is actually my point.
  20. Well, Pujols was 4th in 2010 and 16th in 2011 in that department (OPS). 2011 IMO was only a "bad" year for him. It's not like he will finish in that position again, not even close. But, On the other hand, what makes me wonder about this call is whether 2010 and 2011 will mark the beginning of a new tendency in his career or not. I mean, I need to see Pujols next year in order to make a stronger case. I'm not sure whether Pujols is going to be that dominant in this department (OPS) in the close/mid/long future as he used to be in his prime time. BTW, Is he still in his prime? mmmmmmmmmm IDK Can he dominate that clear, this department (OPS) the next 10 Ys as he used to? I don't think so. Can he dominate that clear/easy that department (OPS), let's say, next 3 Ys? He can dominate but not that clear/easy. IMO IMO is a tough call Emm.
  21. Bautista and Pujols will fight for that stat, maybe you are right. For me, it is not an easy call. Even Cabrera and Gonzalez could fight...Going to be very interesting.
  22. If you bring me Beltran, where do I sign? Crawford Pedroia Gonzalez Youkilis Beltran Ortiz Lavarnway Scutaro Kalish
  23. IMO BA Pujols OBP Cabrera OPS Bautista RBI and 2B Gonzalez HRs Bautista SLG Bautista WAR Pujols/Gonzalez
  24. Pujols over Bautista next year, offensively? Pfff I'm not sure as you are Emmz.
