  1. he also has nothing to lose and is retiring at the end of the year
  2. i'm no baseball expert, but it looked like lowrie could have just tagged out the runner in front of him rather than throwing home
  3. i was on a hiking trip in the presidential range of new hampshire
  4. manny's such a good guy... it's obnoxious how even in his apologies he has to reference what a "real man" he is multiple times
  5. it's great to be watching baseball again, even if it is the red sox :harhar:
  6. the ctba has also asked for the contract to be voided. i suspect since he's 16 he's not legally bound to honor the contract if the yankees do not void it
  7. just posting what the article said. don't kill the messenger
  8. wonder how long he'll make it until he needs tommy john
  9. there's a rumor than wei lin will void the contract and take more money from the twins or a's http://www.baseballamerica.com/blog/prospects/?p=10177
  10. the gap definitely widened a bit more this draft. the red sox had a much better draft in 2010
  11. if he broke both his hands he'd type with his nose so he could still criticize the red sox
  12. yeah, i don't think buchholz will win it either but it's a lot of fun to watch him pitch and he'll have plenty of other chances to win one over his career
  13. it would be unprecidented for someone like price or sabathia to win the award when there's another pitcher whose era is a run lower
  14. to be fair, part of the reason the front office didn't do anything this offseason is becuase we didn't appear to need offensive help prior to the deadline. ellsbury was healthy, v-mart had just come off the dl and pedroia was on his way back. it wasn't until after the deadline that youkilis got hurt, ellsbury and cameron's seasons ended and pedroia went back on the dl the only move i would have liked to see would be to trade for a bullpen arm
  15. if they only had an effective bullpen before their rotation imploded, they'd have a lead in the division
  16. the red sox medical staff really messed up the injuries to ellsbury, cameron and pedroia this year. it's a miracle we're in contention at all
  17. damon's contract ran from 2006-2009. over that time period, coco crisp and jacoby ellsbury had a better WAR in the time that they played for the red sox than damon did and they cost a fraction as much score another one for theo
  18. burnett must have had really electric stuff tonight. we all know when he struggles it's not becuase he's a bad pitcher but because his stuff is "too good" that night
  19. gritty performance by lester. he came off the worst start of his career to pitch in the biggest game of the year and even though he has some of the worst control i've seen from him this season he went 7 innings allowing only 2 hits and 1 unearned run this season rests completely on the shoulders of lester and buchholz
  20. lee continues to get roughed up 5 ip, 7 h, 5 er, 1 bb, 5 so he's now 10th in the leauge with a 3.26 era
  21. in my opinion, he's a step above weei. he says stuff sometimes just to get a reaction i remember him saying something about how all yankees fans were frauds for rooting for a-rod's 600th home run and thinking how much of a d-bag he was then and nothing he's done since has changed my mind
