  1. Come on Lester... three more strikeouts will give you the lead again!
  2. Jon Lester is so good, he could get 30 wins with Boof Bonser as his closer.
  3. Nancy Drew is so tough, she plays through several injuries every day.
  4. What do you call a hit off Jon Lester? Christmas.
  5. Ray Allen isn't going to go 0 fer again tonite.
  6. When Don Orsillo is sick, he doesn't throw up, he throws down.
  7. The three leading causes of death in the United States are 1. Heart Disease 2. Hit by Jon Lester pitch 3. Cancer
  8. Pitches faster than a speeding bullet ... with an arm more powerful than a locomotive ... able to leap tall buildings in a single bound... yes, these are some of Jon Lester's warm-up exercises.
  9. I have as much confidence in him as I do any major league average fill-in. Which isn't saying much. But his lefty splits make him a solid platoon option.
  10. Jon Lester was the hunter who killed Bambi's Mother. It was an off-speed pitch.
  11. Jon Lester has two pitches. Strikes, and strikeouts.
  12. Mcdonald is hitting .279. I don't see a replacement that's a significant upgrade over him being cheap.
  13. That was my initial reasoning on why Posada shouldn't be considered as a top catcher. Let's move on, shall we?
  14. No, I'm just saying that I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for a big trade that will cost a top five prospect.
  15. We also need two bullpen guys, and a better defensive backup middle infielder now that both Pedroia and Scutaro are playing through injuries. But, I don't think the front office is prepared to make the trade. Considering that Bard is the only player on the team that has come up from the minors since 2007, I think they're just going to sit on what they have, and not drop any more prospects. The season rests in the hands of the starting pitching at this point.
  16. I said it on the gt, but its pretty clear that Reddick is trying too hard right now. in three games, he made the same mistake twice-- he tried to make spectacular outfield catches, failing and giving up an extra base or two. He wasn't hitting in triple A, so why try to get him to hit up here?
  17. And back then, all the kitchen knifes were rusty, so he'd be playing with tetanus too.
  18. Dice-k gets a lot of crap, and most of that is because of the ******** he pulls month after month and his complete inability to adjust to the mlb. But he's still not a complete bust, and to say he's had two bad years is stretching the truth. His first year here, he was in an adjustment period, but he still pitched fairly well, and went 2-1 in the playoffs before the team's world series title. 200 innings, 200 strikeouts, 4.40 ERA, 15 wins. His ERA was 3.84 before the All-star break, and 5.19 after which showed that he probably got worn out by pitching every 5 days instead of 6 like in Japan. That was no disaster. And his second year, he came in 4th place for Cy Young. The point is that yes, Dice-k isn't the best 100 million dollar investment this team has made, but he's not a sunk cost. He has 42 wins, and well, the only Red Sox player with more than that since 2007 is Beckett.
  19. Nitpicking is not necessary. Posada is a DH now. I said second or third, and you said third or fourth. what's the difference, considering Pasada probably won't be catching a whole lot more.
  20. Victor Martinez was realistically the second best or third best offensive catcher, and that big an upgrade from a hurting Varitek was a huge improvement. Put into perspective, its almost like upgrading from Casey Kotchman to Prince Fielder. Considering that they'll almost definitely get two early round picks for VMart, that means they'll be getting two prospects back for the prospects they put out. Masterson has a bright future, but it may take him a while to figure things out( or maybe he just did figure it out). Masterson never really fit with the Sox-- they just couldn't figure out what they wanted to do with him. Cleveland however, wants him to start, and I hope he does well. Its been a win-win-win situation for everyone. Masterson gets to start, VMart gets to play for a contender, both teams got something good out of the deal, and Hagadone/Price will be part of the re-building process for cleveland and will get a role when the time comes. In Boston they'd have to fight to get in the rotation.
  21. Yeah, I f***ed it up and made a quick edit.
  22. Clay Buchholz-- 21 outs, 3 runs. s***** bullpen guys -- 0 out, 6 runs.
  23. There is a 0% chance of this team making the playoffs with only 3 capable relievers. And with Delcarmen having back issues, this is a big problem. I said it at the beginning of the season, but if you only have 3 reliable bullpen guys, and one goes down, the team is f***ed. This is not like the big bat situation where its going to cost six guys to get a replacement. It will cost some, but they need another arm, period.
