  1. I don't see them trading him, simply because I don't think anyone really knows what he's worth. He went from being a top prospect to a top pitcher in 2008/2009, who then lost his confidence when he failed in the majors, then had a rough start to 2010, but eventually came back to have a stretch of really great starts in 2010, and so far he's been an exceptional reliever in AAA. Unless a team they're trading to values him highly, I see no reason to trade him-- just look at his stats in the minors, overall they still look incredibly good.
  2. In all reality, this team is going nowhere with Patterson in. They've got 4 outfielders I'd rather see play, and right now Hall/Lowrie would be better solutions at 2B. But for some f***ing reason, they play him pretty much every game, and worse than that-- they put him in the 2 spot and give him 4 or 5 chances to be a blackhole every game. Maybe I've just seen a few select plays, but he looks like a defensive liability every time he's out there.
  3. When Beckett was pitching this season, he was doing worse than Wakefield. I think its perfectly reasonable for him to take his time to make sure he doesn't lose his first game back.
  4. Can't expect late game heroics every game.
  5. Scuutaaaaro... maybe?
  6. CAMERON!!! Oh this is getting interesting.
  7. I think the bullpen may be a great way for Bowden to salvage his career.I don't remember him looking this good before. And if he does well, he may get a shot to start somewhere along the line.
  8. CJ Wilson is a truly good pitcher. He was hiding in the bullpen for a while, but he's made the transition incredibly well, and he's very talented.
  9. Funny, so Lester strikeouts the batter, but with bad execution on defending steals, another run comes in anyway. This team needs to get its s*** together.
  10. Two more bad plays this inning that have led to base runners, no errors on anything. Apparently its strikeout or nothing for Jon.
  11. What the hell is up with the Sox defense lately? That's the third bad play today.
  12. There have been 4 men on base, and 3 of them have turned into outs. Texas has failed to get to Lester early, and I wouldn't be surprised if they will regret these innings.
  13. Wow, I almost feel bad for Andrus... he finally got a hit after a long slump, and he gets caught on the basepaths.
  14. The problem is that other teams might use his inconsistencies as leverage to get more in a big deal. There's no such thing as a sure-thing with prospects, and if a pitcher is struggling at low levels it raises red flags, and the team may be paranoid that the Sox have a good reason to be trading their top prospect. Either way, the Red Sox will only trade him when his value is on the rise, and unlikely if that.
  15. There is absolutely no reason to play Patterson instead of Hall/Nava/Mcdonald. Those guys have kept this team together despite all the injuries, and they deserve to be playing. That, and their 2010 numbers are better. Manny Delcarmen returned to the mound at Fenway last night with the win, a shutout inning, and 0 walks or hits. If he can get back to form, this bullpen isn't in as rough shape as we thought it was.
  16. When the best pitcher in the AL has 90 pitches and has thrown 8 innings of 1 run ball, you leave him in. He has averaged 109 pitches per game this season. There is no argument for taking him out.
  17. All signs point to this season being a true bridge year. High payroll, two albatross contracts, most of the talent in the system is a good way off, roughly 11 major injuries this season, and in a division with the two toughest team in baseball. I don't think they can seriously justify trading away more good prospects right now, unless it will help them in the long run-- bullpen help is the only thing I can see them trading for, but only if they can get a good deal.
  18. Wait wait wait...the stat line is calling it a complete game for Lee? I think that's a bit misleading...
  19. YOUK!!!!! Way to keep them alive!
  20. Espn reported that that was simply a rumor, and there was no major traffic problems.
  21. I think the Sox farm is in better shape than it has been for a few years. The Westmoreland tragedy was a major hit to the organization, but the team has several guys within a year from the majors, and well, after the wave that ended in 2007, there really haven't been those kinds of guys in the depth chart. They definitely have enough 4 star prospects to make a deal happen, but I still seriously doubt they're going to make a major deal.
  22. Wow, the "Let's go Nancy " chant is extremely loud tonite.
