  1. Read through the Dice-k thread. It doesn't matter how good he pitches, people will always hate him because he's a primdonna-- even though he's been pitching like a #2 or 3 starter for the majority of this season. I constantly bring up the point that he came in 4th for Cy Young in 2008, but everyone completely ignores that significant fact.
  2. Catcher is clearly a position this team needs some help in right now, so getting VMart back helps a ton. Cash and Brown aren't getting it done, and my gamewatching skills tell me that their defense really isn't that significant an upgrade.
  3. Every game is an adventure these days...
  4. Too bad we're also trying to give it back to them.
  5. Who figured on Hermida lasting past Hall? Utility guys like Hall are valuable even if they don't hit. Horrible defensive corner outfielders who can't... not so much.
  6. I've just been under the assumption they're planning on trading one of the two.
  7. I hope Wakefield is going to make a good case for them to keep him in the rotation tonite. He won't stay there, obviously, but he's the kind of guy who will pitch well anyway.
  8. Talk about going under the radar... Buchholz is scheduled to start tomorrow, and Hermida is coming back Thursday. This team is pulling itself back together quick. http://www.bostonherald.com/blogs/sports/red_sox/index.php/2010/07/19/lowell-set-for-rehab-v-mart-playing-catch/
  9. Dice-k had a big game last night 6.2 IP, 1 ER, .6 WHIP, QS, W. He really only made only one or two bad pitches all night. If you look at his last seven starts, 5 of them are quality starts, and he only gave up a total of 6 runs in the other two starts. Considering his tendency to go sub 6 innings, 5/7 QS for him is a very good sign. He's quietly having a fairly good season, and as scary as it may sound, right now he's the team's 2nd best starter.
  10. Scutaro looked like he was in rough shape a few weeks ago, but he's been playing well lately and hasn't looked that bad. He desperately needs some relief, but I don't think the team can afford to give him much time off.
  11. Its kind of sad, but right now, he's probably the team's #2.
  12. I wasn't insulting anyone, I was reading the posts, saw 6 straight posts by Jacko, and I figured I'd throw a friendly reminder out there that someone was actually reading them.
  13. I just want to throw in a courtesy post so you won't feel like you're talking to yourself.
  14. My new policy with Dice-k is that I expect him to fail horribly, and every time he pitches well, its great news.
  15. Remy isn't really that great with differentiating pitches.
  16. Unfortunately, Boras is using his college education as a bargaining chip. I would not be surprised if its 5+, but 10 might be pushing it.
  17. Um.... Dice-k has two 1-2-3 innings, is pitching 80% strikes and has only thrown 21 pitches. Why do I get the feeling this game is going to go badly?
  18. Chill out, you must.
  19. Reputation + 100 for alphilip77.
  20. Considering he was the Sox's #2 prospect for like a year and a half, projecting at a major league #2 or 3 starter, I don't think stopping him when he was streaking in Pawtucket really raised his value. And if he IS any good in the bullpen, why trade him away when that's something the team crucially needs?
