  1. Who needs a 170 million dollar contract when you've got brotherly love, huh Cliff?
  2. They had 3 starters with ERAs of 3.14 or under... and then Lincecum had an offseason with 3.43. That's a brutal group to hit.
  3. Tell that to San Francisco.
  4. Pwnage. This guy is determining the fate of the 2011 World Series right now haha.
  5. If Halladay is a bag of rocks, I want to know what a bag of gold is in the mlb
  6. Except that the Mets would be assumed to eat part of Beltran's salary, and trading Dice-k was never a mandatory in that situation, just a suggestion. I clearly brought this up several times, and you kept ignoring it. And the next time someone backs you up in an argument, with a one-liner like "Let's get some popcorn" the phrase "Justin Bieber" will come up. Deal?
  7. Just because you're the most popular user on the board, and will have people tell you that you've won an argument doesn't mean you did. Seriously, I'm going to point to Justin Bieber on this one. All signs point to Beltre hitting .850, paying 10 million for Ordonez or paying 10 million for Beltran will still affect the team's finances the same way, and Lowrie was clearly healthier than Scutaro at the end of last season.
  8. Similar posting styles? Yawn. You can do better than that, can't you?
  9. Considering that he's supposedly "close to signing" I doubt he'd go to the Yanks over the Sox if it means he'll just be a backup in one versus a starter in the other.
  10. Strange move. I wonder if it makes Montero expendable?
  11. I think it makes no sense to compare 2011's lineup to what last's year's lineup could have been. Cameron and Ellsbury weren't in the outfield-- Hermida and Mcdonald were. Crawford is a huge upgrade defensively to that position. The infield should be a wash defensively by replacing Beltre/Hall with Youk/Pedroia.
  12. The Sox should trade A-gon for Pujols. It solves the handedness issues, the Cardinals get an elite 1B afterall, Pujols gets his epic contract and everyone goes home happy. Hey, a guy can dream, right?
  13. It bears repeating... Clever.
  14. *points to sig*
  15. Tim Lincecum, two time cy young winner. Heard of him?
  16. But is my point not valid? Had he gone to the Yankees, and lost two games for them, would they have won the world series without him? The answer is a resounding no. Whichever teams he goes to will be the better team in 2011.
  17. What exactly was his record in the World Series this year? Oh yeah, it was 0-2. He can't blame Texas for his own failures. When you're pitching against Tim Lincecum, 9 runs spread over 11.2 innings is not going to win the game.
  18. The fat metrosexual generally is a rare breed because many borderline heteros of that girth tend to grow into queens.
  19. I'm surprised it hasn't been brought up yet-- but how do you think Cliff feels about being #2 to CC?
  20. I'd assume he's talking about prospects.
  21. I'd rate the system as "poor" at best. When guys like Lars Anderson, Navarro, and Reddick are in your system's top 10, its a big problem, and with Doubront, Kalish, Iglesias coming out of the system soon, I don't see another wave coming through for another two or three years after that. Losing Kelly, Rizzo, Fuentes, plus Westmoreland's complications, and with Bowden and Anderson being complete flops-- the farm has a lot of rebuilding to do. That being said, the team is locked at several key positions for quite a few years with elite players, and doesn't necessarily need farm to replenish them, as long as there aren't any key injuries like in 2010. As long as the new wave of pitching can start peaking in 2013, I don't see it being a huge problem.
  22. Well, you need to look at where the team's depth is, and the positions that are set. 5 starting pitchers 1B, 2B, 3B, OF x2 The only positions that will need replacing in the next year or so are SS, bullpen, OF, C, DH and bench. Shortstop should be covered by Lowrie/Iglesias. OF should be covered between Reddick, Kalish, Westmoreland etc. C may be covered by Salty--possibly Martin-- but it is a position that they can be OK with a mediocre player, because there really aren't that many good catchers out there. DH, there are always big bats that can't field who become available every offseason. Bench, same there. Bullpen may be a problem if they don't put money into it. As far as I'm concerned, the farm has done what it needed to do-- and that is put an elite group of players on the field, with Pedroia, Youk, Bard, Ellsbury, Lester, Buchholz as one of the strongest groups of home-grown players out there, and all of those guys are locked up atleast two more years. All the other holes can be filled-- plus, they'll get as many as 5 first rounders this year to restock.
