  1. It looks like they're just about done. Lineup 1B - Adrian Gonzalez 2B - Dustin Pedroia 3B - Kevin Youkilis SS - Marco Scutaro LF - Carl Crawford CF - Jacoby Ellsbury RF - J.D. Drew DH - David Ortiz C - Saltamacchia SP - John Lester SP - Clay Buchholz SP - Josh Beckett SP - John Lackey SP - Daisuke Matsuzaka RP - Jonathan Papelbon RP - Daniel Bard RP - Bobby Jenks RP - Dan Wheeler RP - Scott Atchison RP - Felix Doubront RP - Tim Wakefield Bench Jed Lowrie Jason Varitek Darnell Mcdonald Mike Cameron f*** yeah.
  2. In 2010, lefties had a .154 BAA and a .86 WHIP against him. For his career, those numbers are about twice that. I'm surprised they didn't go with another lefty, but maybe they're making that Doubront's job? Either way, this team is pretty amazing.
  3. That's the problem-- the Yankees profit just happens to be massive, so it would take a much larger amount for them to be making nothing.
  4. Yeah, when he has the most number of losses in a Red Sox uniform, it sort of loses all meaning. At 4-10 last year, its about time.
  5. Alex Spier of WEEI claims the Sox are done pursuing Fuentes, but Wheeler is still a possibility. Also, congrats to our old friend Bill Hall who is getting a starting job with the Astros. Well-deserved!
  6. Yeah-- it completely sneaked up on me, but the Sox need one more reliever and their 25 man should be done. Sad to see such an incredible offseason come to and end... unless they have another big move?
  7. 6 relievers when one of them is Wakefield? Ew.
  8. 1 million for Wang? I'd pay him 2 million just to have him work as Francona's barber.
  9. I just want a consistently healthy 4th bat from the bench. I'm a little concerned that a strong breeze may come into the club house and strike one of those guys the wrong way.
  10. After all the talk about avoiding 1+ inning relief appearances for him... his shoulder gets overworked anyway? It would explain a lot. Two years just seems like a long time to decline without it becoming a serious issue.
  11. I'm not sure if I buy that. He was so intense and he seemed so motivated after blowing the save to the Angels in the playoffs and 2009, but it didn't exactly go anywhere. He's been in a huge downfall for a few years, and it has shown. I've beaten this horse to death, but I think John Farrell let him over-rely on a smaller repertoire of pitches, and I think if Curt Young can get past Papelbon's pride and help him develop more variety, he will be far less predictable and could have a much improved season.
  12. I don't think there will be quite as many crucial innings as there were last year. I don't remember what the statistics were, but if I recall, the Sox had more extra innings than most teams, and more close games too. The offense will provide more runs, and I trust Doubront/Atchison to get through the 5th and 6th innings a lot more than the group in there last year.
  13. Embarassment? Bah. It is difficult not to get giddy over this team.
  14. Its really hard to argue with a team that has put energy and money into putting together such a large goup of elite players like this. Just thinking about the lineup and the rotation they have for several more years in their primes, it makes most of us drool.
  15. Its interesting that no one seems to believe that that is a solid rotation. It won them a WS just two years ago. The problem is, after some of the stacked rotations there are in Boston, San Fran, and Philly, for some reason it just doesn't seem all that fierce anymore since Burnett fell off a cliff.
  16. It is the only number that matters. When BABIP, xFIP and and K/9 affect the scoreboard, let me know:D
  17. Blame Bartolo Colon and Boof Bonser, but pitchers of his size concern me, especially coming off a season of very mediocre ERA. But hey, he's better than Schoenweiss or MDC.
  18. This team was much more desperate for a LHP than a RHP, and Downs was a much safer bet. Downs was much much closer to a sure thing. It definitely seems like they're overpaying here-- is Jenks really worth the highest AAV so far this offseason for a reliever?
  19. 2/12 for Jenks? Peripherals be damned, how is that better than any of the 3/12 deals the other guys got?
  20. Woah, that's a steal. Apparently everyone who got screwed from the Werth/Crawford sweepstakes decided to roll over.
