  1. This umpire has cost Buchholz a considerable number of pitches with his strike zone. Sure, its definitely helped the Sox today, but he's literally cut 6 inches off the top of the strike zone for both teams.
  2. Great play by Longoria and Loney.
  3. Buchholz has been very very good today. Hopefully he can work a bit more efficiently for the rest and save the bullpen, among other reasons.
  4. Ugly AB for Ellsbury.
  5. Did Don just call his daughter's artwork "Not so good" ?
  6. Haha, probably. Still, its good to see that the Red Sox will be active on the trade market.
  7. Apparently the Red Sox were checking in on Giancarlo Stanton this week, says Gammons.
  8. Way to get on base Nava!
  9. The Red Sox keep whacking it, but they hit straight into players. No strikeouts, no weak grounders so far.
  10. James Loney 2012-- 0 steals. James Loney 2013-- First time on base against the Red Sox 1 steal. Shows you what kind of respect the Rays give to Salty.
  11. Really odd. The first pitch looked like a strike, and was called a ball, and the second pitch looked like a ball, and was called a strike.
  12. Red Sox hitting quality line drives, too bad the first two were right at players.
  13. Can we retire the Red Sox Small-talk thing? Its awful.
  14. The problem isn't necessarily the starters, its all of the close games they've played, and how they're being used. Lester went 7 innings yesterday, and somehow we saw 4 relievers. We also keep seeing Miller come in for 1-2 batters, walking a pile, and then being replaced-- He's had 4 appearances so far, and in those, he's gotten a total 4 outs. Ouch.
  15. Also--- With a Yankee loss, the Red Sox are back alone in first place!
  16. In all fairness, his brother in law is their starting 3B.
  17. With a new season, it means a new season in Pawtucket, Portland, Salem, Lowell etc. The big name to popup so far is Sean Coyle. His line so far is .391/.481/.957/1.438. With so much infield depth, he may be a great trade option midseason while saving the gold chips for the future. http://fullcount.weei.com/sports/boston/baseball/red-sox/2013/04/13/red-sox-minor-league-roundup-sean-o-meter-in-full-effect-henry-owens-pat-light-sail/
  18. Probably, but the longer they wait, the more he costs. Do you think he'd accept a 4/60 contract in 2014 if he continues pitching to career averages?
  19. With another big start for Jon Lester, it begs the question-- should the Red Sox extend his contract? If he's willing to take a 4/60 contract similar to Buerhle's, I'd say pull the trigger.
  20. Thanks! So I take it Hanrahan is kind of on the outs now?
  21. I missed the game -- heard it was an exciting one. What happened with Hanrahan/Lester?
  22. Sometimes I wonder if you're just messing with us all. In those three games, Ellsbury was on base exactly two times. One of those occasions was a triple. During game 1 of the series, Victorino tried to steal, but Wieters caught him. Wieters has had a cannon this season so far, catching 4 out of 5 stolen bases so far this year.
  23. Jose Reyes out for 1-3 month. At this rate, they might not even make the wildcard.
