Does he still have options? Wright will be sent down before him, but it all depends on who gets healthy and when. With 4 pitchers on the DL, he could be sent down quick.

Fun fact: Red Sox starters have yet to give up more than 3 ER in one start.

I mentioned it in the gamethread, but he's definitely one of the most underrated players on this team. He's no superstar, but if you need someone to go out there in the 6th and 7th innings because one of the starters couldn't go deep, he keeps the Sox in the game.

Part of me agrees with you, but the problem can't really be solved unless something is done about pitchers hitting players with pitches. If a guy is throwing a 100 mph pitch directly at you--and not over the plate-- how are you going to defend yourself? I think it is more likely for players to get hurt when an opposing pitcher starts headhunting in response. The other problem is that during a brawl, there are 9 players surrounding the charging player. So if a batter is defending himself after a headshot, he's f***ed without the bench clearing out.

Wilson tips the ball up to Ciricao, who hits the bag, and flings it to Napoli who just barely stays on the base. Very ugly, very good play!

Mortensen is probably the most underrated player on this team. He's been 3-4 ERA inning reliever the last few years, and just hasn't seen much playing time despite being on four different teams in the last few years.

I am scared though, of what will happen when the Red Sox have to start using Gomes in LF.

Its a shame it isn't raining a little bit.. this just seems like a good game to call it in the seventh. Neither team really wants to burn 3 more innings of relief pitchers, and most of the fans left early after the 7-0 lead.

Rich Hill is with Cleveland? Wish the Red Sox never let him go... It isn't like they exactly have a reliable lefty right now.

In years past, that popup would have either A) Fallen directly in between players. B ) Caused a collision between players resulting in season ending surgery for one of them.
