  1. Every sports fan base is as collectively intelligent as the other, unless that fan base is located in New York.
  2. You'd rather be dead and have your record broken? Jeez.
  3. This is the best way you could possibly put it.
  4. The best part is that Fenway isn't looking like its going down anytime soon, and if its decided that it must go, there's nothing anyone can do. I will enjoy the fact that Fenway is still alive while it lasts.
  5. Watch it at home. No one's forcing you people to go to games if it sucks so bad. Why should a historical landmark be replaced because you're uncomfy? We have enough state of the art pieces of s*** to watch games at, why can't we have two historical stadiums?
  6. Gotcha, well just as long as it doesn't go dormant and become a toilet for homeless people.
  7. Boston isn't a baseball town?
  8. Some young snot nose who knows what happened in baseball from '67 to now? Yeah, I also know they didn't win a championship. There's only so much about that time period you can successfully condescend your having lived through, because there's a little thing called preserved history. It includes newspaper articles, common opinions and statistics. The Red Sox weren't premier s*** until they won. Premier teams win championships, not finish 2nd or worse. You can insert your subjectivity all you want about how much harder the writers were on the Sox back then, but that has to do with championships. Writers and fans don't ease up because you won 95 games but couldn't quite get the job done, because thats human behavior. Everyone's reaction after the collapse last year, in 2003, and other mon-championship years, is evidence of that. Some day an old grandpa will try to tell you how much smarter they are than you. Oh wait.
  9. And Cask N Flagon needs to be preserved, but not Fenway? Thats a god damn joke. Lets tear that down and relocate it to wherever the new stadium is. Unbelievable.
  10. You completely missed the point about the link that a stadium maintains. A new version of Fenway is not Fenway, a renovated Fenway is still Fenway. The New Yankee Stadium looks nothing like Original Yankee Stadium aside from the interior, it looks like a giant bank. The new stadium doesn't hold the history of the original. This is just a case of sentimental vs. people who think nothing's sacred. You're entitled to that, but we're not going to change each other's opinion.
  11. They didn't win a championship in a city that has high sports standards. Thats the point. A lot of big sports cities, successful or not, seem to feel entitled to a championship every year.
  12. Yeah, it basically does. Its the atmosphere. If they build "New Fenway Park" it will suck, because it will not be the same place Ted Williams played and what not. New Yankee Stadium is not "The House that Ruth Built", its just some state of the art replica of the old stadium that has no tie to the original. If they renovated Yankee Stadium a million times it would still be The House That Ruth Built. NYS will never have a historical bond to those 26 world titles or Ruth or Gehrig. Its like destroying a memorial to all of the great teams and players.
  13. The Red Sox also used to never win. The Sox are currently a major league powerhouse, and Shaughnessy is still finding ways to be a gaping ass wound.
  14. Thats still not building a new White House. They didn't knock the old one over and rebuild. Same goes for Yankee Stadium. If they did the same thing with Fenway none of us would care, because it would still be Fenway Park.
  15. Never been replaced, brah.
  16. The Roman Colosseum is also an ancient wonder, and a work of art. Fenway Park is 100 years old and serves the basic purpose of viewing a baseball game. All of sports' greatest stadiums are gone essentially. Preserve the history. Otherwise, lets just knock everything over and build new modern versions of everything. "The New Lincoln Monument". http://www.destination360.com/north-america/us/washington-dc/images/s/washington-dc-lincoln-memorial-s.jpg My seat is uncomfy, and the columns are obstructing my view. Maybe even a New White House? Why the hell not!
  17. Go to bed, you old geezer.
  18. http://fusedfilm.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/506x316_rich.jpg It stinks, and I don't like it.
  19. Yeah, its fun to watch, but I like glove wizards who can also hit.
  20. You like guys who will probably hit for a .650 OPS, if not worse in Lin's case? O.o I like someone like Lin if they have Brett Gardner's OBP.
  21. Pedy sounds too much like Pedo. Extra "d" is for the better.
  22. No, Peddy is gold glove. You use Punto to counteract Papi's poor defense in the DH spot.
