  1. The Tebow thing is not comparable because he was never good at his job at any point, he jist won and took care of the ball. The s*** about complaining about the hype is exactly what I take issue with, not whether you actually hold ill-feelings toward him. Just give him some credit and learn to be take what the media tells you about anything with a grain of salt, it will save you a lot of stress. I don't pay a lot of attention to any of this, but I think it's kind of ridiculous that you're already saying that this proves he's overhyped. He's obviously overhyped, and the fact that he's had a few bad games now doesn't prove a lot, but being that reactionary is exactly the reason why he's overhyped in the first place. Good ole human behavior!
  2. Derek Fisher has never been a good starting option, just a roleplayer type. They got screwed out of a chance to land CP3, but they would've had to have given up quite a bit. IMO the Lakers have peaked already, and need to start thinking about what happens when the best player in basketball is gone. A Howard-Paul duo would have been insane. Now the Lakers are sort of tied up with what they have. They kind of went down the same road as the Celtics by stocking up on vets, and now the vets are getting older, and other teams are passing them up.
  3. Their systems are more conservative than the Knicks', your argument isn't encompassing many aspects of the game at all, like how OKC and NY use explosive, high-octane systems. Paul, Rose and Rondo are 3 of the best ball-handlers in basketball as well.
  4. You make it sound like turnovers are all that uncommon for a high-scoring guard. If he scores 25+ ppg, who cares? Focusing on turnovers in D'Antoni's system is pointless, even moreso if the primary ball-carrier is a score-first type of player. Get off his sack. If anything I hope he's good all year so I can hear everyone rationalize why they think he's going to flop next year, or why he wasn't good in the first place. Oh well, I didn't jump on the Linsanity train, and I also ain't jumping on this bitter bandwagon that says he was never good and he was just a fluke or whatever. If he never scores a point again it won't bug me, but it will disturb me how all of these *******s will come out and gloat that Linsanity is over.
  5. Thats why its called a theory, because logically it actually falls flat on its face. The Germans absolutely surrendered in WW2 and WW1. Your name is your name, the Bible exists. I just ate steak. Those are all absolutes. The Theory of Relativism is the most ridiculed "rule" of logic because its absolutely incorrect. Its not my fault you believe anything you read in your teachers' handbooks as fact. SCIENCE has debunked the Theory of Relativism several times over. Rules aren't proven by exceptions. EVER.
  6. You didn't even touch the fact that I debunked your whole "absolutes are never correct" argument. I'm waiting. You let school out before it even started, bro. Considering you had to quote some dead guy (who is absolutely dead) to "prove" that there is indeed an exception to prove a rule, I'll make the assumption you're desperate to win this argument. You've already lost on all fronts. An exception that proves a rule does nothing but disproves the rule, this is basic logic.
  7. Apparently you didn't read anything. And pretty much everyone agrees that he's not likely to be a success, thats all I ever said. Quit talkin' out yer ass!
  8. Okay, is that your version of a moral victory? That's pointless, but I don't think he's going to pan out. I shouldn't have to say "in my opinion" in front of everything I say, or be at risk of having to defend myself from petty cgerrypickers. If you had access to my head and could prove I actually believe that I know he's never going to work out, then you'd have a case. But fine, if it's a moral victory to take away from an otherwise losing effort on your behalf, then fine, I said "he will never be good". \o/
  9. The term makes no sense, the application to the argument doesn't work out, and the actual claim that "an absolute is never correct" is funny for two reasons. Lets say it's correct at the moment. Doesn't that exception prove the rule to be, well, incorrect? Thats where the phrase falls flat on its face. Here's another absolute that is correct: Adolf Hitler is dead. John Lennon is dead. The Germans lost in both World Wars. I could go on for hours. Stating an absolute is never correct means that there is nothing factual, EVER. So your actual "exception" isn't even an exception, it belongs to a long list of absolutes that are absolutely correct. Ready to say uncle yet? School's out. \o/
  10. Apparently you flunked out of logic 101. Isn't that funny how you make an incorrect statement about absolutes never being correct, in effect an absolute, and being incorrect? Thats one complex, logically-incorrect, hypocritical moment you had. Logical thinking indeed LOL.
  11. The exception that proves the rule doesn't exist. It's a phrase some guy invented when he got busted on being hypocritical.
  12. Don't be petty and technical, I've made my POV clear several times over, if you're too lazy to go back and read other posts that clearly promote the idea of possibility (including my previous post), then you shouldn't cherrypick the snippets that actually suit your needs. "He stinks and he's not going to be good" in this scenario are simply opinions.
  13. No one has, at any point, disputed that. It's also possible that Joe Mauer hits 30 homers again and Francisco Liriano reverts to 2006 form. I don't even have a speck of hope for those things happening, because they're so ridiculously unrealistic. And these are proven talents, who actually have achieved substantial success for a substantial amount of time. Miller has proven that he stinks, and thats about it.
  14. There's a point where health has to be a severe concern for a player every year. Hughes gets hurt all the time, I doubt he's ever going to become the big shot he was supposed to be. Not to mention, he's sti not as good as advertised. Career ERA+ of 100, pretty average.
  15. Yeah, and thats why I say its possible, but so is Joba or Phil Hughes becoming the pitchers everyone thought they would become. It's not a realistic hopeful, it's more realistic to be doubtful.
  16. Then you have to expect him to have a good pitchers mind to make up for his lack of overpowering stuff. Pick your poison with him, he doesn't have it.
  17. They will get s***-value for him, so I doubt it. They should have dealt him after his good year a couple of years ago.
  18. Yeah, every sport is a fickle sport. I could sit here and list a lot of late-bloomers from a lot of sports, but that's all just not realistic. What's he going to learn that he obviously couldn't in little league, high school and the minors? Miller stinks and he's probably never going to reach his potential.
  19. I think Ross is a huge sleeper. I seriously could see him having an .800 OPS in the AL East coming away from the NL West (and even better, over 100 games of SF, LA and SD).
  20. The way I say it, Beckett could regress some, but Lester IMO should improve some. Bucholz will actually be here, and the last 2 spots just have to do better than Lackey and Wake. Not very sure about the 'pen, and offensively I could see a regression from Ells and Ortiz, but Ross is a huge plus over Drew and Co. Crawford should beat out his .695 OPS, and if this team has a month as bad as last September or starts off as poorly as last April, I will be shocked. This team is going to win at least 90-95 games.
