  1. Yeah, but thats still pretty unsound. It makes it sound like sub-4 ERAs in the AL East are common. We still don't know how he's going to hold up going longer than a couple innings, etc. I think ERA close to 4 for Bard and above for Doubront is more realistic.
  2. I think you projected Bard with a 3.5 ERA too, and I don't see the logic behind that either. I can't get my mind to spin it that way. If I could, I'd be a lot more optimistic about the rotation. @SFF
  3. And Beckett won how many games with a sub-3 ERA? On top of that, why are you projecting a 3.7 ERA? If there were some rational way to expect that, I think everyone would agree that our 5 starters have no questions. Thats simply not the case. If it happens thats just a plus, and you get props for it, but I cant see the logic in this.
  4. You just don't see the change like that anymore!
  5. Bugs Bunny has the best changeup of all time, just saying guys. 3 Ks on one pitch. Get some!
  6. Aviles leading off? No please.
  7. If he starts hitting, I see no issue with a Ells>Crawford>Pedroia 1-3. But thats only if he goes back to where he was at his best. Otherwise he's going to be in the bottom of the order, 7-9 imo.
  8. Fred brought up the other site.
  9. Boomer is just fine, he's been a pretty good contributor thus far.
  10. Yeah, he's adequate right now, but adequate from catcher can be pretty hard to watch at times. I think everyone's over the whole Salty Fever thing that we experienced in the middle of last season.
  11. You just feel like you're entitled, thats it pops, let it all out. You don't deserve respect, but you've never once given anyone but your core of friends any respect. I contribute in the eyes of most, and whether or not some 75 year old crusty fossil doesn't like me or not, it doesn't change a thing. I tried to discuss this rationally, but you went directly for the elitist route. If you make unsubstantial comments about my personality, you're going to get it back in return. Call it a learning experience that you need to start showing respect towards others before you get it back in return. You're not special, you're the same as anyone else. And don't refer to any poster as "my friend". Unlike you, I don't attack others just for the purpose of defending buddies. I have disagreed with most of my "friends" on here on about half of the issues. Get it straight, and stop generalizing people based on minimal encounters. You want respect? Earn it, pops.
  12. s***. Pessimistic side kicking in. I think a lot of us were practically banking on a return to form. Hope for the best I guess.
  13. This was about the Brett Gardner comparison.
  14. Rotating DH, full time DH, doesnt matter really. If they earn their pay and are productive, then it works out. The Yankees have had a revolving DH because they have a bunch of aging veterans who suck in the field now, if you got a guy who can put up .900 OPS from the DH, and isn't massively overpaid, then there's no issue in having him in that spot permanently. Would you give up Lavs' bat if he was a 30 HR, .850-900 OPS hitter, to keep Salty just because his defense is adequate and you don't want a full-time DH?
  15. Some bats are just too valuable.
  16. Even though his OPS+ went down almost 20 pts from 2010. He's good now, but he'll be done by his early 30s or sooner unless he learns how to hit. He's not going to keep getting by on walks.
  17. Crawford leading off? Pass.
  18. Probably would swap Ortiz with Youk but we will see how they both perform.
  19. Do we really want a Brett Gardner type of guy out there. Aside from being fast and having a really really good UZR, all that can be said is he tries to get walks. Nava's a no, he really hasn't done anything but hit that grand slam and be good in the minors. Not sold he can be good in the majors at all.
  20. Anyways, I think everbody completely missed the point, which is that you should never try to substantiate your argument with a supposed superior understanding, especially when your argument is that unsound. If he said I used to do some scouting work, I think he could be a 30 HR hitter, and this is why, thats one thing. But that's not what happened l at all. It was a display of bragging that cant even be verified. It was excessive. End of story.
