  1. His career stats and his trends side with me. I give players props for turning the corner when they, you know, complete a full season as such. Not being a knee-jerk homer does not equate to me being a possibility person.
  2. Exactly what I said. Also said it last year when he was on the heater early on. I give a guy props for what he's doing. His high OPS both cases is supported by a high SLG, and I just don't see how Salty could keep that pace.
  3. Thats a cliche type thing to say, and I think you know it. The team that gives itself the best chance to win wins the game. Run differential isn't a one way street.
  4. How many Salty ballwash threads are you going to make? Second time this season you've made one. We'll see how his OPS is in September, but I doubt it's much higher than .750. Once his power drops off his OPS will be in rapid decline. I'll just take this hot streak for as long as I can get it, and if he finishes the year with an .800+ OPS, then maybe I could see him "turning the corner". Just like your Miller argument Doj', you want to give props on possibility, not on reality.
  5. He was competitive and he backed it up. Best trash talker of all time, Lebron wasn't even a villain until he bolted for Miami and he started playing into it. Lebron is competitive but he has yet to back it up. He's also not fit to do MJ's laundry, so I don't know why he thinks he can do all of MJ's rituals and talk all this smack. MJ was an on-court trash talker, and it's common knowledge that he was very hard to get along with, but he was good enough. I don't see it as arrogance.
  6. Uhh, no. Jordan just wasn't arrogant and playing into the publicity like Lebron does. Players were under every bit the scrutiny in the 90s as they are now. Charles Barkley says hi.
  7. Yeah, same that I keep hearing, except more homer "he has home run power". Wondering of someone who really knows prospects had anything to say, like who's he compared to, what's he need work on, etc.
  8. So is Buxton good? I don't really follow prospects.
  9. Yeah, they could give them a run, but I think it would be more equal to compare an all 96/97 team (just an example, not a year in particular) vs an all 2011-12 team.
  10. Some people are better in situations of pressure than others, this is the point you're completely missing.
  11. If he could effect free-will (DOES THAT NOT EXIST?! ) I'd love it if people were less quick to talk out of their ass with claims they can't support. But hey, then I wouldn't get to bust your raisins. Oh I DO hope I'm not patronizing too much!
  12. I think "Lebron just can't win" is an ignorant statement as well though tbh. MJ was almost 30 before his first title. I think Lebron wins, but not this year.
  13. Yeah, he's just kind of ignorant. He thinks anything that can't be quantified doesn't exist, which is poor logic to say the least.
  14. I'm pretty sure that's not true. It's about 50/50, half the people here, if not more, probably remember Curt Schilling as the guy who pitched his ass off in 2004 for the Sox, and not the guy who basically got a bunch of easy money at the end of his career. Same could be said probably for Varitek, Wakefield and of course Lowell.
  15. Small sample size, he also gave up 5 runs in each of his past how many starts? And this is at Target Field, his ERA has been 5.58 since the beginning of last year, with a 1.577 WHIP. Imagine how much that inflates playing at Fenway Park.
  16. Don't see it happening, but for the right price it really doesn't matter. I just don't see it working out really, he can't locate his watered down arsenal of pitches.
  17. Ortiz is a DH, Youk gets injured all the time. Nuff said.
  18. Yeah, and if I ever call you a name, it's always in the name of humor, I'm not really into trying to censor your opinions. I give my players the benefit of the doubt when they're proven to be excellent players. You make it sound like he's useless, that's like the mentality that bandwagon fans have, they're the biggest fans when the team's successful, but when they're not, they just complain, make fun of the team, etc. I never understood not having that loyalty, but hey, different strokes right?
  19. I agree, I would have never paid that much to Crawford, but Gonzo is the real deal. Crawford was a bad deal because he'd have to put up his best stuff for his entire contract essentially to be worth 20 million, and a lot of those speed guys really don't last very long.
  20. What pitcher should we have gone after? Really, A-Gon was a no-brainer. Dude was putting up .900 OPS and trending upwards at Petco Park for half of his games, and then in the other AL West parks for half of the rest of the games. It's not kool-aid, it's facts. You're just being unreasonable.
  21. His OPS is pretty likely to rebound, and you'll never convince guys like that of any sabermetrics stuff.
  22. You're missing the point of using last year. It's not a reference as if it means anything. We get it guys, he's struggling (btw, struggling for A-Gon is above league average). His career OPS, and last year's OPS, are used as a reference to show that he's probably going to turn it around at some point. Get off the dude's sack already.
