  1. If it's any consulation, the Dodgers just lost to SF, so Beckett, A-Gon and Punto will be at home watching the post-season on TV like the rest of us....
  2. This team would have a hard time taking down the 1962 Mets.
  3. Please tell me the season is officially over!
  4. I just noticed that we have the same home record as the Astros - yes, I said the ASTROS!!
  5. I went to all three games, but exhibition baseball doesn't count in my book.
  6. Other than the fact that I get to see the Red Sox play at Dodger Stadium for the first time since 2002, the new schedule sucks.
  7. My sentiments exactly. I started following the Red Sox during the twilight of Ted Williams' career and endured a lot of disappointment until 1967, when my loyalty was finally rewarded. If it takes a couple of years to regain a winning form, I'm in it for the long haul.
  8. Local game for me, however I turned the channel after the first inning. Republican Convention and Big Brother provide more entertainment than this game.
  9. Why were any of us expecting anything different tonight? The insanity continues...
  10. How long have you been a fan? Since 1958 How did you become a Red Sox fan? The first pack of baseball cards I ever bought had Frank Malzone under that big, pink slab of gum. Who is your favorite current Red Sox player? Cody Ross Who is your favorite all-time Red Sox player? Frank Malzone Who is your least favorite Red Sox player ever? John Lackey What state/country do you live in (to see how spread out the fan base is here)? Los Angeles, CA What is your favorite memory being a Red Sox fan? Being at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on August 3, 1959 and seeing Frank Malzone hit a homer off of Don Drysdale at the All-Star game. When was the first time you ever went to Fenway Park? September 1996 Who is your least favorite Yankee player of all-time? Bucky Dent - who else is there? Any other comments that you would like to add? Johnny Pesky - R.I.P.
  11. C: Sammy White 1B: Boomer Scott 2B: Bobby Doerr 3B: Frank Malzone SS: Rico Petrocelli LF: Yaz CF: Tony C RF: Dewey Evans
  12. Me thinks Aviles is Don Buddin reincarnated.
  13. Is it too late to drag Julio Lugo through the mud again?
  14. Could have done better putting a Red Sox uniform on a sack of sawdust.
  15. Swapped one sack of sawdust for another -Ugh!
  16. Too bad the Dodgers couldn't unload that useless tub of lard, Juan Uribe, on the Marlins...
  17. Hitter: Jimmie Foxx Pitcher: Luis Tiant
  18. DFA - NOW!!
  19. I was born and raised in Los Angeles and since I was a little boy, I've only followed one professional sports team - the Boston Red Sox. I went to two baseball games at the L.A. Coliseum - the second All Star game in 1959 and the exhibition game between the Dodgers and Red Sox in 2008. I grew up in the shadow of Dodger Stadium and the only games I attended there were when the Angels played the Red Sox during the 1962-1965 seasons and the Red Sox-Dodgers interleague series in 2002. I HATE football, basketball, hockey, soccer, rugby, 43-man Squamish, the Olympics, badminton and any other sport you can think of. So there.
  20. Carroll Hardy. Couldn't hit his way out of a wet paper bag, but pinch-hit for two Hall of famers - Ted Williams & Yaz.
  21. Never saw Mel Parnell play. Being in Los Angeles, I didn't get into baseball until the Dodgers moved here in 1958, as I was starting Little League. Anyways, I've always been a Red Sox fan and read every book I could get my hands on to learn the history of the club. I had a nice 8x10 photo of MP that I mailed off to him several years ago. Not only did he autograph it for me, he also sent another autographed 8x10 accompanied by a nice letter. A damn fine pitcher and a class act, to boot. RIP, Mr. Parnell.
  22. He'll be lucky to pitch five innings before BobbyV bitch-slaps him.
