    The Cubs

It is cool. I like that Theo is loyal to "his guys".
  2. He did do a good job. He gave up a bunch of weak singles but looked in control all of the time. He tired in the 6th and got a little spanked.
  3. Reports are that E Rod will need at least two more starts in Pawtucket. O' Sullivan has earned a second start and could get a third if he does well again.
  4. This is how I feel. Regardless of $, he is not worth it.
  5. I can understand why you would feel more comfortable seeing what is accepted as the norm for corner outfielders. Larger, slower guys with more "pop". The Sox just do not have that and watching the alternative is a little strange if you have been weened on the more conventional COF. Personally, I am becoming accustomed to seeing less "pop" and more speed. I like that Holt gets on base one way or another each game. He makes things happen with his opportunities and keeps the line moving.
  6. Not only that, Holt "dropped off" later in the seasons in which he had to play 7 different positions. I would argue that has to wear on an athlete both physically and mentally. And it is still a smallish sample size.
  7. My immediate thought. How is a walk a display of power?
  8. Okay. Normally I wait until between inning to go outside and smoke. f*** that. I've seen this act before. Hope the 7 run rule is in effect.
  9. Mister Consistency off to another stellar start. 1-0 A's with one out. No brainer my ass.
  10. Nope. I would not say yes, even tough I still believe the Sox screwed the pooch dumping De Azza. The barn door is closed on that already. If the Sox want outfield fortification, they should look for an impact type bat.
  11. Did the Sox make him an offer? If so, what was it?
  12. Yeah that's why I said "about". In any case it's bad business.
  13. Not me. Had I been given two chances to do my job and had failed badly at both, I would no longer have that job. That is the real world. Pablo is privileged to be playing a child's game for a living. He was fortunate to land a huge contract to play that game. He has not been earning his pay at all. The real problem is that the Sox signed this guy.
  14. I don't care about Cherrington anymore. I like Dombrowski more each day so far.
  15. I used to be a big fan of Ellsbury. I used to defend criticism of him and his frequent injuries. Not anymore!! Last night he appeared to pull something while running to third base. Can he ever stay on the field long enough to be useful? I'm glad he is a Yankee problem. What a disappointment he has been.
  16. f***ing excellent post Dojji.
  17. Good Price today! GO SOX!!11!!!1
  18. Great stuff. I had the benefit of growing up in Newton, Ma so I just hopped onto a trolley or a bus from Newton Corner and was in Kenmore Square in about 30 minutes. In those days the Sox were not selling out much. I would pay $1.00 to enter the center field bleachers. After the 3rd inning, the Fenway staff would allow me to pay $.75 to enter the right field grandstands for the remainder of the game. I was allowed to sit anywhere in the park as long as the actual ticket holder did not show up. Mostly I tried to hang around the visitors bullpen before and just after the game started. I used to smoke cigars with the O's 20 game winners. This, when I was 14 or so. I mowed lawns and did odd jobs all summer long so I could attend as many games as possible. I usually took in about 40 or so each season.
  19. I was there that night. I don't remember who it was although I believe it was the A's left fielder and was f***ing hysterical. The crowd loved it.
  20. Ah the good old days!!!! One of my favorite games that I attended was the big show down between Sonny Siebert and Vida Blue. There was about a two hour rain delay ( i didn't care as I was dry and snug under the right field grandstands ) and the A's fianlly prevailed. I think it was Joe Rudy who decided to mock bat and steal 3 bases sliding on the tarp in a downpour. That was funny as hell. He had on a warm-up jacket stuffed with towels or something so he looked like Pablo. Sliding like a beached whale. That was great stuff. Edit: I just tried to find more info on that game. The Sox won. Hmm. It was May 28, 1971.
  21. I'm not understanding why Rutledge is not given any credit. The Sox acquired a healthy AAAA player for a gimpy, aging, and not productive former great veteran. Rutledge appears to be a little inconsistent defensively, but his bat is real. He's a replacement player that's why he rides the bench most nights. I don't cringe when he enters a game. Why do people here make fun of him?
