  1. I am a Sox fan and will freely admit that I want to see Ortiz in the HOF. I used to think that if he got to 500 HR then his credentials were good enough. Now that he has eclipsed that milestone I still believe that regardless of what he does before he retires, that PED "cloud" will be held against him. The media made a big deal out of it and it has never gone away. Anytime an open discussion of his HOF worthiness is undertaken, the "cloud" of PED use is mentioned. So I do think that it is a real issue. Even if he has never been proven to have done anything against MLB rules. It's just the way things are.
  2. Yeah no style point there either.
  3. The Fenway tour is the balls. You will see and learn so much about the place.
  4. The kid can hit. His fielding is a little lacking. Overall, I think he contributes with at least replacement player value.
  5. Hanley has been hobbling around on a sore calf. He is still playing. Also, I have seen him playing playing with his left shoulder for several games while sitting in the dugout.
  6. s*** can change very fast. Holt , Shaw, and Ramirez. I certainly hope that Shaw and Hanley don't miss a bunch of time.
  7. MY MAN!!!! Another reason to admire the man!!!!
  8. And Dombrowski is no fool. He knew that this is still a premium gig. And the Sox used this along with the history of the principles with the candidate to snag a big fish. At least in my eyes, anyway.
  9. I don't know so I'll ask you. If they do cut Craig, he is then a free agent, I assume. The Sox continue to pay him the remainder of his contract, yes? Now if he signs with another team do the Sox remain on the hook for the remainder of his Sox contract? Or does the new team assume that obligation? Does signing a minor league deal vs. major league deal make any difference?
  10. This is a cool observation. I have never thought of these things as being non-linear.
  11. The new guys seem predisposed to being treated poorly by ******* mods. It will probably take a little longer for them to become familiar and accustomed to being treated fairly by you.
  12. I'm not familiar with Hazel Mae being in play during this demise. What roll did she play?
  13. No. My criteria would have the team at or above .500.
  14. Tough to say. I think that the relationship when he was shown the door may have been rocky but probably not as bad as the press played it. Money has a way of making things right. I would have even gone 3 years on Lackey. That, to me anyway, would have been a no brainier.
  15. I always say that I do not expect the Sox to win the WS each year. But I do expect them to be competitive. That is to say that they should be putting a team on the field each night that has a chance of winning.
  16. Yup. Although I have fond feelings for Joe Morgan. He was a local boy ( Walpole ) that many loved for who he was, not just his baseball acumen.
  17. I gave at least one example during the tail end of last season. John Lackey.
  18. I second this motion.
  19. No, I don't want to see Swihart traded. I do understand why a Catching prospect can be valued higher than a LFer given similar offensive tools. I suspect that being able to play LF as well as being a reasonable catching prospect increases the chances of finding a suitable trade partner because every team has both of those positions that may need to be filled.
  20. Pittsburg has come a long way since the steel industry collapsed. That stadium and it's back drop are cool. I'd love to go there. Also, I want to see what all the fuss is about Permanties.
  21. Swihart making plays in left. How could he? There goes his value.
  22. I certainly respect that. I just see Betts speed as something Bogey can not bring.
  23. Lol. I refuse to expend much more energy discussing Laptop.
  24. I'll bite. I think Betts is truly a five tool player. I'd argue that his skill set is more complete and more refined at this point.
