  1. Lost in all this is consideration of what a 3-4 day layoff may do to his approach at the plate.
  2. Meh. I don't know where I stand on this issue. Is it a national issue? Is there debate in MLB about using the new technology? I'm a traditionalist when it comes to my baseball. But I don't fear change. Certainly not if I have an understanding of that change. I don't have strong feelings one way or another. Yes, I would really like to see consistency and the proper calls made. I guess I would like to see the new system demonstrated and then go from there.
  3. I can't remember specifics about my first game. But it was at Fenway vs Cleveland, I think.
  4. Sorry, but this is a bonehead idea. A la Tehan, Lin.
  5. You could be right. I never thought about the old guys using contemporary training techniques and nutrition. You could be wrong as well. As I said, I don't dig on comparing eras.
  6. User needs to make his ceremonial admonition.
  7. Guerin Austin has to get NESN to reimburse her for cleaning costs or just buy her new dresses. I count 3-4 times she has taken a Gatorade bath this season where the dress was soaked with a dye. Either that or she should stand there in a bikini. Yeah. I like that better. Even if she does not have a decidedly high center of gravity.
  8. Not clean but decent start for E-Rod. I'm a watchin' his pitch count.
  9. Yeah. After all, a guy on a pace to hit 30 home runs clearly does not fit the profile of a lead-off hitter!!!!
  10. Why does E-Rod pitch so slowly?
  11. I'm with Kimmi and Bell. I would add that in any business it is not a good idea to make a long term investment in something that will be declining in value. There are things that you can make such investments in. Say, for example, you run a company that manufactures semiconductors. Well, a large investment in a deionized water system, a Liquid N2 system, and air scrubbers will pay for themselves. A shortstop and a speedy outfielder are likely to wear out and perform to a lesser standard. Not a good idea.
  12. Lol. Back to back by our powerful lead off guys.
  13. Lol. It suddenly came to me!!! You know, he was a very forgettable player other than his funky name and having been hit in the f***ing gourd in his 1st MLB at bat! And after having such a long minor league career.
  14. Yeah, I think everyone knows how I feel about that.
  15. I wonder if these rankings are weighed? As in strength of competition. Agree, that info is not important to me. Maybe it's useful in fantasy leagues or something.
  16. Yup. I bet even Kimmi would agree with you!
  17. This sucks but I am happy for Bradley. The birth of a child is huge.
  18. There is a bunch to learn about the game. Even at my age I get a thrill out of learning new things about baseball. Where are you located? England? Did you join here when Henry bought into football?
  19. I see your points and they are valid. I usually don't try to compare eras. Although right or wrong, I usually assume that today's players are better. Good no-troll post!
  20. That would be wicked cool.
  21. Hey, I could be wrong. I just assumed that most if not all posters here recognize his ability at the plate. Maybe we all have different assessments of him.
  22. It sure would have been. Objectively, one has to give the nod to Pedro. Ruth was a prodigious hitter. But my guess is that he never faced anyone close to having Pedro's stuff.
  23. Yeah we all know this at Talksox. You have a point about such a low OBP leading off. In a vacuum Mookie would be hitting lower. However, as Bell has pointed out, Mookie, despite his low OBP and low BA, is getting on base at a sufficient pace to lead in runs scored and be among the leaders in RBI with this offense and batting order. Why fix what works well enough when the benefits of the change would likely be negligible? Besides, we all know that Mookie is a better batter than what he has shown so far this season. He will improve.
