Me too. I was very attentive to this issue and never heard this.
It was assumed that Ells would go for the biggest offer ( maybe his choice of agents created that idea ), but I never heard about any offers being rejected by Ells.
Bottom line is that NY wanted and needed him more. They had the money and were willing to make another likely stupid deal.
Let's all rejoice in that.

Overall, I believe I am justified in being chauvinistic about our broadcasts. From Ken Coleman forward, the play by play and commentary has been very good.
Holt can fill in at all outfield positions. Why carry another outfielder for that purpose? Holt in the super-sub role gives Farrell a roster advantage. Like carrying another reliever or at least just flexibility.
Getting rid of Hannigan now would be short sided. Especially if the Sox do make it to the post season where a veteran catcher of his ilk is very valuable ( see Ross 2013 ).
