  1. Absolutely. He was lights out in early 2016. Right now I would have as much or more faith in Buch. This guy needs to get back on track very soon or this deal was total s*** no matter how affordable he is.
  2. This is a matter of significant National pride for many Nations. Particularly those in this hemisphere. The WBC is an opportunity for the baseball world to merge momentarily to see how everyone measures up. Americans may seem blase about it it and that is unfortunate. It's our game. Or it was , anyway. It's good for the game.
  3. That is some cool and useless information. The key point of Swihart being brought up is that he was clearly not ready for a steady diet of MLB ball. Yet he did alright, anyway.
  4. Trade Dustin Pedroia!!!!!!
  5. Hit it where they ain't.
  6. Castillo continues to f***-up. Getting caught in a run down 1-3 to end a rally. Dumb.
  7. I didn't get it either. Clearly I am missing something.
  8. I agree fully. This change is just a placebo in the effort to speed up the pace of the game. Plus I like to see pitchers IBB batters. Some of them f*** up or come close to f***ing up. That ads a little drama and skill to the game. It's minor and possibly inconsequential but it is part of the game.
  9. Me too.
  10. Beni has been the star at every level since he was just a kid. My guess is that he can deal with expectations.
  11. I think that your best bet is to look for someone in college in the Boston area.
  12. Of course being the best team in the league helped.
  13. BAM!!!!! Peanut butter and jam.
  14. It's the wealth distribution that is failing this country. It will not be long before our country will be in trouble growing enough food for it's citizens. It's happening in other parts of the world already. Americans are spoiled and entitled. When the dust hits the fan and there is not enough clean air and water to drink it will be too late to do anything about it. But it's okay if people don't believe in science. Right.
  15. Okay before this thread gets shut down for becoming political I will make one non-partisan point. I still view my country as the best country in the world. I believe that all citizens of the USA should have housing, food, healthcare, and education. The fact that so many go without is appalling.
  16. Lulz. You guys are so kind to each other!
  17. He also said Pablow was still fat. Just not as fat as he was last spring. When folks here began to get woodies over the early photos of the "New Pablow" about two months ago, I was very skeptical about his weight loss and his ability to keep it off. Back then he looked about 20 lbs lighter that the videos of him made today. Don't be surprised if he plays like s*** and becomes a morbidly obese fat f*** again this season. It's easily as likely as him hitting .290.
  18. His value is at it best when he is in the box swinging and on the bases running. If keeping him at catcher prevents him from doing these two things for the Sox then his value is not realized at all.
  19. Didn't it go away with Salty? He never really had a great arm while with the Sox but he was able to get the ball back to the mount acceptably as I recall. I think it's just like losing your stroke on a Jumper or a set shot at the free throw line. Repetition should be able to cure the problem. Unless there is a physical issue with his arm or body. Just my thoughts. He belongs at a corner infield or outfield position anyway. His speed and his bat are too valuable to waste at catcher. No need to lecture me on his best value is as a catcher. I've heard it all.
  20. I think that it's nuts. DD is not as concerned, however.
  21. When I mentioned this I was not forecasting gloom and doom. Yeah, it's wise to start these guys off slowly. However, for a brief period we all saw starting pitching as a real strength for this team. Now with Buch gone and three prospective starters dealing with injuries we need to be somewhat concerned. DD painted a rosy picture of our rotation depth speaking in positive if not glowing terms of the three young starters in Pawtucket. I am not that confident that any one of them can get it done if called upon.
  22. Perfectly stated S5.
