  1. I imagine Stephen Wright would be more entertaining to watch if we weren't Sox fans. You know, to see a mutual slugfest instead of a beating. Although with Aceves you always have the chance he's going to spaz and do something entertaining. Maybe we can wrassle up a few Canadians to go at him again.
  2. Believe it or not, but of the Halladay/Lee/Hamels trio, the one with the best numbers against us was Hamels. (Who pitched yesterday so we shouldn't see him in the series) In 5 starts (32 innings) Hamels is 4-0 with a 1.97 ERA, .91 WHIP and .200 BAA with a 32/6 K/BB ratio. In 12 starts (80.1 innings) Lee is 3-5 with a 3.81 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and .239 BAA with a 67/27 K/BB ratio. In 39 starts (275 innings) Halladay is 14-15 with a 4.39 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and .267 BAA with a 201/66 K/BB ratio.
  3. There'd be another disciplined bat in our lineup. We might have a shot to walk as many times as we strike out. (With Middlebrooks on the DL and on Salty's day off)
  4. We have Aceves starting a game so I'd slow it down before you go too far.
  5. It's a shame because he used to be a really valuable asset to the team. He was many strong pitches and is a durable arm. He was ideal for long relief.
  6. I was just looking at some stats and apparently the Red Sox are 3-1 in extra inning games, 8-4 in 1 run games, 12-5 at day vs. 19-15 at night. Also 13-8 vs. the ALE, 12-8 vs. the ALC, and 6-4 vs. the ALW. Not that there's a point to be made with this, I just thought it was interesting.
  7. But I bet your wife can. http://i595.photobucket.com/albums/tt38/italstallianion/5v9gT_zps62101be4.png
  8. And if it weren't for the game Tampa gift wrapped for you guys multiple times (in which it took you long enough to take) you'd have been 1-2. And I can only imagine what your record vs. Toronto would have been if Lyle Overbay didn't freebase youth serum.
  9. Now Brett Myers in my opinion would be considered a junk baller. Or Jamie Moyer for the last decade.
  10. Which brought his ERA down to like 5.57 I believe. (I used to really like Marcum which was why he was one of my early picks in our redraft. I remember you commenting on that pick as well)
  11. Is he skipping his start or just pushing it back a day or two?
  12. Remember when he managed 26 to 6's team for like a month included when they played each other? I mean he may have been a dirty sleazy commissioner but at least he was open about it.
  13. The season is young. I'm just hoping to get my first gamethread win one of these years.
  14. I assume he isn't in the Talksox league lml. Is he still doing that same league where you, me, Diony, 26 to 6, Rhet, and others were in?
  15. I didn't realize UN was friends with GOM on fb. That'd be enough for any man to snap. If you think Jacko's bad....(which he is) GOM is way more in your face. Not to mention UN also has to deal with Diony who was a fellow Dominican poster here just a Yankees fan. UN had all the intelligence of the two of them though.
  16. Especially when you consider that teams tend to stray away from trading players within the division.
  17. It's a good feeling. A true honor I might add.
  18. Just for the heck of it, Jose Bautista is making $14M each year through 2015 with a $14M club option for 2016. ($1M buyout)
  19. I'm not sure if we need a starter but I think we can always use one. (What teams can't use another good starter?) I'm intrigued by Rios/Ethier as well but I wonder what that would do to Nava/Gomes/Carp. Rios is making $12.5M this year and next year with an option in 2015 for $13.5M ($1M buyout) Ethier is making $13.5M this year, $15.5M in 2014, $18M in 2015, $16M in 2016, $18M in 2017, and $17.5M (club option) for 2018 with a $2.5M buyout. Ethier is 29 this season and Alex Rios is 32 this season I believe.
  20. I thought he was somewhere around Hartford. I'm in the Colchester area.
  21. Top trade targets (listed on MLBTR via Joel Sherman and Buster Olney) appear Justin Morneau, Alex Rios, Andre Ethier, Jose Bautista, Cliff Lee and Matt Garza. It all depends on what teams consider themselves sellers. I think our team can always use another piece or two and we have a good farm system as well as money to be able to pull off moves. In addition I think our high draft slot should be able to help replenish much of what we give up if the right moves comes along.
  22. We get to skip Hamels (and obviously Halladay) in our 4 game series vs. Philly. We still have to face Lee. But then again the way our lineup can make mediocre pitchers look like CY Young candidates you never know what will happen. At least Utley will also be out.
  23. And we get it, you're a smart ass. The ratio of smart to ass is still yet to be determined.
  24. In a very similar fashion, one in the 8th and 4 in the 9th to win 6-5. Both games (when put together) made me lose money. Oh well, the Sox win is more important.
