  1. Let's not forget Javier's sterling 4.91 ERA for Yankees in 2004.. Let us also not forget Javier's abysmal 9.53 ERA in the post-season that same year.. 11.1 innings of PURE SUCK.. Let us also not forget Ozzie Guillen's assesment of Vazquez as a pitcher who couldn't handle pitching in meaningful/BIG games.. Ozzie continually chastised Vazquez in the media.. I lived in Chicago at the time and watched the Chi-Sox quite a bit.. I have to agree with his assessment. Let us also not forget that the NEW Yankee Stadium will inflate Javy's 2004 numbers further. I watched Javy this year..he was very good in NL... he pitched against some terrible hitting teams... He will be back to a mid-high 4 ERA with a chance to be in the 5's back in the A.L. East, where even the crappy teams can hit... I would MUCH rather have Clay Buchholz in the 5 slot than Javy "Bit-Spitter" Vazquez..and I guarantee you Brian Cashman would as well.
  2. I think there is a less than ZERO chance Papelbon is traded in the middle of a World Series run.. The Red Sox will win AT LEAST the Wild Card as the rest of the AL stinks outside of the East and TOR and TB have taken steps backwards... SEA is much improved but still lacks pitching depth behind their silly 1/2 of King and Lee... I think SEA will win the division and the Angels will digress severely turning into a barely over .500 team... The idea of the Sox trading their closer is preposterous even if he does walk.. Let him walk...he will most likely walk away a World Series Champion..again... and we get two sandwich #1's for him when he signs with someone else... Then we have Bard begin 2011 as the Red Sox closer. I think it works out rather nicely.
  3. http://night-kitchen.com/images/beltre-gonzalez/gonzalez2007.jpg (2007) http://night-kitchen.com/images/beltre-gonzalez/gonzalez2008.jpg (2008) http://night-kitchen.com/images/beltre-gonzalez/gonzalez2009.jpg (2009) Umm..yeah...judging by Adrian's 2007-2009 Spray Charts.. I'd say his would quickly become the fastest selling jersey in Red Sox history.
  4. Sweet^^^^ Thanks.. I am actually soliciting some more charts and info from SOSH's insomniac, statistical, guru.
  5. I am looking for it now.. I saw it originally over at SOSH and could not find it when I went back to copy it! I will get it up here.
  6. Sure he may regress on the road...but get this...he will play 81 regular season games at the Fens. Gonza goes the other way quite frequently...with authority. His long, 390 feet flyouts in cavernous PETCO will become souvenirs for Cask and Flagon patrons. His 315-379 ft. flyouts will become doubles.... He will hit over .300 with a +.400 OBP.. I would say his OPS would finish around 1.089. This is all rough estimates judging from his hit displacement chart and the adjusted PF's.. I think we can all agree... Adrian Gonzalez in a Red Sox uniform would make an already very good Red Sox team...much better. As an aside.. Dipre...(using my best Hannibal the Cannibal Voice)...."Love the Avatar"..
  7. Really? He's not that good? When you adjust for Park factors...he trails only Albert Pujols in OPS.... yeah, he's not that good. Here's a clue.. he is better than Tex... sorry bud..the numbers don't lie. Tex has half of his games and 85% of his at bats shooting at that Cracker-Jack RF at Yankee Stadium.....with a jet stream funneling out to right-center. Don't even try it son.
  8. I disagree... Hoyer will get substantially LESS at the tread deadline as the slugger who had been under contract for 2 full years will now only be controlled for 1 season and 2 months.. This is common knowledge. How many teams will be able to afford A-Gone in 2012 when he may just become the highest paid player in baseball?? Not many. And the teams who cannot-- are not mortgaging their future in a 5 for 1 type deal.. the type of deal Hoyer can get NOW from the Red Sox. Even if there is a bidding war at the trade deadline, there will be no 5 TOP prospect kind of deals going for a guy a team may lose to Free Agency after the 2011 season. Hoyer moves now.. or he loses 1 or2 top prospects. It is going to happen before ST.. watch.
  9. Clay/Kalish/Anderson/Bowden/Redick/Iglesias for A-Gone? Hoyer would do this today. He is not getting Clay AND any of Westy/Kelly/Bard... he will settle for a BULK of top prospects over a couple of ELITE ones... SD needs TONS of help. I would rather give Kelley or Westy than Clay.
  10. As we stand now..here is our likely lineup and rotation for 2010. vs. RHP (lines vs. RHP for each batter) Ellsbury .346/.417/.763 Pedroia .373/.466/.839 Martinez .388/.478/.866 Youkilis .404/.560/.964 Drew .396/.536/.932 Ortiz .346/.481/.828 Scutaro .376/.406/.782 Hermida .368/.418/.786 Kotchman .350/.410/.760 vs. LHP Ellsbury .374/.411/.785 Pedroia .366/.399/.765 Martinez .365/ .483/ .847 Youkilis .435/.518/.953 Cameron .420/.534/.954 Drew .381/.482/.863 Lowell .363/.503/.867 Scutaro .389/.421/.809 Varitek .336/.471/.807 ( Vtek should catch when facing lefties..move Vic to DH) Now the lineups are unspectacular..but very solid.. I do expect the Sox to add one of A-Gone/Holliday/Bay/or Cabrera before Spring Training.. OK..maybe I HOPE! 1. Lester * W-L 15-8 * ERA 3.41 * K 225 * Walks 64 * WHIP 1.23 2. Beckett # 17-6 # ERA 3.86 # K 199 # Walks 55 # WHIP 1.19 3. Lackey # 17-6 # ERA 3.86 # K 199 # Walks 55 # WHIP 1.19 Matsuzaka * W-L 4-6 * ERA 5.76 * K 54 * Walks 30 * WHIP 1.87 5. Buchholz * W-L 7-4 * ERA 4.21 * K 68 * Walks 36 * WHIP 1.38 BULLPEN CL Papelbon #1 Bard #2 Okajima #3 Ramirez #4 DelCarmen #5 Wakefield #6 Bonser All in all.. a team capable of winning 90-95 games IMO.... Maybe a bit more as I think Dice-K and Buchholz will have CAREER years while the BIG 3 maintain their level of excellence. The bullpen is ridiculously good and I see Bonser and Wakefield beinf very useful. I still have a hard time believing Buchholz will not be packaged in a deal bringing Adrian Gonzalez to Red Sox... it makes TOO much sense for Hoyer to move NOW and trade Gonzo while he is still signed relatively cheap.. His value goes down every year that passes... SD will never be able to afford him in 2012.... he will be dealt to Sox.. I firmly believe this. SD will have their #1 pitcher and a few nice prospects thought I doubt Theo parts with Clay and Westy in same deal. I see a deal of Clay/Kalish/Anderson/Bowden/Redick/Iglesias getting it done.. Watch.. it will happen.
  11. Just got off the phone with my buddy... anyhow.. here is the deal on Gonzo as you may already know.. Theo does not want to include BOTH Jacoby and Ellsbury...and really wants to keep CLAY. Hoyer is no dummy and wants Clay or Casey Kelley AND Ellsbury. Theo will not trade Kelly. Theo does not want to trade Westy. IF Theo agrees to include Ellsbury and Clay..this will be the deal that Hoyer will accept...I think Theo is trying to entice Hoyer with a Ellsbury/Bowden/Kalish/Anderson type deal..Hoyer ain't moving Gonzo for anything less than CLAY/Kelley AND Ellsbury and possibly Anderson or Bowden. My friend is being VERY evasive once again... but I think this deal is going down... sooner than later. Gonzo's puny salary makes this deal a no-brainer for Theo.. I think he will relent and give Clay and Ellsbury...and Cameron will warm CF until Westy is ready in 2 or 3 years. Westy could also be the RF'er when Drew's contract is up and they could go after Crawford next year....though I think we all would rather Henry and Co. break the bank and get Mauer to Beantown...though outbidding the Yankees will be nearly impossible.
  12. I would rather see Ellsbury go than Westy... Westy has power potential and a rocket arm.. and he is just as fast as Jacoby. And my best friend is CLOSE family friends with Westy and his clan(coached Ryan's Basketball Team at Portsmouth High). In fact, I should be getting an autographed bat soon.. I am going to wrap that baby in plastic and keep it for my infant! Hopefully he is the star I believe he will be.
  13. Vic catches 4-5 games a week...and DH's for Ortiz vs. LHP.. Ortiz has become an auto-out. Youks slides to 3rd. vs. LHP Scutaro Pedroia Youkilis A-Gone VicMart Cameron Drew Ellsbury Max Ramirez or TEK vs. RHP Scutaro Pedroia Youkilis A-Gone VicMart Ortiz Drew Gotta love Cameron's 1.500 OPS in 13 Official AB's vs. CC... couple that with his career DOMINANCE of all LHP (except Andy Pettite who KILLS HIM!) and Hermida's success against RHP and we have a very nice platoon. Of course this is contingent on the Red Sox acquring Gonzalez. I think you all know I have a friend in the Sox organization. I am not saying he is Theo's right hand man... but he has given me some clues in the past... I called him and asked him about Gonzalez to Sox and he was very evasive... told me not likely.... but that names HAVE been discussed with Hoyer and the name are the same names SOSH website is reporting... which makes sense since a few SOSH members actually WORK for the Sox... one is a scout..one is a statistical consultant. At the end of our conversation I asked him what the chances of landing Gonzo were and he said 50/50! That did not jive with the negativity he had showed throughout our convo... I think there is definitely something brewing and given the Pads financial standing and lack of offensive thump... I could see Ellsbury or Westmoreland roaming the spacious CF in Petco for many years to come... This deal is going to get done...and I wouldn't be surprised to see Ellsbury involved given the Cameron acquisition... I would then not be surprised to see the Sox make a big push for Carl Crawford next year to play CF.....paving the way for Westy to take over for JD in right. Ellsbury is the kind of charismatic, young, star that Hoyer could use to justify getting rid of the wildly popular Gonzo. Ellsbury or Westy would be PERFECT fits for PETCO... they can both FLY. I see Ellsbury or Westy/Kelly/Bowden/and Lars Anderson getting this done.
  14. The Sox will probably get Gonzo... the Pads are financially strapped and they could land the next Grady Sizemore in Westmoreland... They can also get a Casey Kelly who people are comparing to Kevin Brown and 2 quality prospects like Bowden and Kalish.
  15. Posada is not a better hitter than Victor Martinez...sorry... Martinez had virtually no protection in CLE....NONE! Posada has an All-Star or Former All-Star at every f***ing position! There is no end to a Yankee fan's myopia! Victor Martinez is also a f***ing catcher while Posada is a DH now.. Martinez is so much more valuable than Posada at this point in THEIR careers it is hardly quantifiable.. I cannot wait to hear Yankee fans telling me how TEX is better than Adrian Gonzalez once we get him... If you adjust the numbers for Park Factors...which I will... A-Gone is better than TEX..and not by a small margin~! I cannot f***ing wait to pay all of the M-n-fers back!
  16. Good luck scoring vs. Sox staff.......
  17. Granderson and his .320 OBP are not worth Buchholz OR Ellsbury... I am glad Theo didn't bite there.. Also...though he will have a short porch at Yankee Stadium to shoot for..he wouldn't have been nearly as valuable to the Red Sox playing in a poor lefty-pull field like Fenway.. Granderson is a DEAD pull hitter..he would SUCK at Fenway as his lifetime .255 BA and equally horrific .296 OBP can attest to.
  18. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.. but fortunately numbers don't lie.... Youks 2009 .306(BA)/.413(OBP)/.961(OPS) TEX 2009 .292(BA)/.383/.958 ***Given the fact that Youks had very little protection compared to Tex... Youks was more than a PUSH with Tex..he was BETTER in 2009! Youks 2008 .312/.390/.958 TEX 2008 .308/.410/.962 So explain to me again..why Tex is better?
  19. sorry...Brett Gardener.. He is a much better hitter...and he is faster.
  20. Someone is out... and I believe it is Mr. Buchholz who will be headed to SD in a BLOCKBUSTER deal for Adrian Gonzalez. Think about it.. why would the Sox trade for Lackey when they already had one of..if not THE best starting 5 in baseball? Buchholz will be moved very shortly for a slugger... It could be Miggy Cabrera..it is more likely Gonzalez as Hoyer is now SD's GM. Gonzo will cost PLENTY...Hoyer knows who the REAL prospects are. Westy is gone... Clay is gone... Kelly is gone... but so what! Scutaro Pedroia Adrian Gonzalez Youkilis Vic Martinez Drew Lowell Ortiz Ellsbury 1. Lester 2.Beckett 3. Lackey 4. Matsuzaka 5. Wakefield Papelbon/Bard/Okajima/DelCarmen/Ramirez/Bonser If that is the roster for the 2010 season...the Yankees reign will be very short-lived.. That may be the best team I have ever seen...PERIOD! WEEI has been reporting the Sox in talks with Padres....names involved... Casey Kelly/Buchholz/Bowden/Westmoreland/Anderson
  21. Oh good... whew.. I was hoping he didn't pull a Matsui or something and break his wrist trying to catch a liner.
  22. Just got off the phone with my buddy in Newport, R.i. He just had dinner with Ryan Westmoreland and his father and a few others... Says Westy is disappointed with injury but will definitely be ready for Spring Training.. His father is also starting a Baseball Academy in Fall River. He will be the starting RF when Drew's contract is up... I just got in.. what happened to Bay>???
  23. Ramirez is a choker...same with Delcarmen and Bard(i will give him a pass due to inexperience). I only have faith in Paps and Okie in 1 run games.
