  1. Wow..this is a stupid post. Hey genius.. peep these numbers.. Adrian Gonzalez ROAD OPS: 2007 .928 2008 .946 2009 1.045 Though no Pujols...I would say he is better than Howard...he certainly was in 2009. I cannot believe a baseball fan, in this day and age would not take into account Park Factors. Petco is a HORRENDOUS hitters park..an EXTREME pitchers park.. You put Gonzo in Fenway...judging by his spray charts and propensity to go to left..you are looking at Manny-Like numbers...with good defense... He is worth every prospect the Sox would have to give up.
  2. Theo went for the bat when he went for Tex... he missed on that...and short of a trade, there is nobody out there close to Tex. I cannot blame the Sox..they made a MONSTROUS offer for Tex only to be trumped by that fat sack of goo... I think Theo went to the "pitching/defense" as an alternative to the slugger because the Yankees signing him necessitated the shift. I believe it is more important to Theo to stock the farm. He knows he cannot outspend the Yankees and can only fight them internally. I respect this stance. I do not respect the fact that he uses this "pitching and defense" sham to fool novice fans into thinking he is actually putting his best foot forth in an effort to win. Theo's mistakes have come back to bite him and he needs a couple of years for them to clear and in the meantime he will hold fast and not trade the young gems so that in 2 years, when other players become available through FA he can not only sign them...but also have the Kelly/Anderson/Bard/Clay/Ellsbury's playing with other prospects available to deal when Theo thinks we have a realistic chance at competing. I understand what he is doing and somewhat agree with him.. But it is HIS fault for having to WASTE entire SEASONS.. had he done an effective job..he should have been able to compete EVERY year while still stocking the system.. He has $150 millions at his disposal!!!! He has mis-allocated the funds and caused Red Sox fans to WASTE 2 seasons watching a bunch of overpaid, old, bums flounder around the .500 mark. I have said it before....were Theo the GM of the KC Royals..he would have been fired long ago.
  3. I sense your sarcasm clever one..... did you sense mine? So..I agree. instead of wasting bandwidth with pointless pontification and useless hypotheticals...just look at what the guy who RUNS the Red Sox said BEFORE the season even started. He was foreshadowing the GREAT possibility of failure while also nixing the Adrian Gonzalez idea.. Quite a masterful stroke by Theo. Now he can say..hey.."I told you we were in a bridge year".
  4. “We talked about this a lot at the end of the year, that we’re kind of in a bridge period,’’ he said. “We still think that if we push some of the right buttons, we can be competitive at the very highest levels for the next two years. But we don’t want to compromise too much of the future for that competitiveness during the bridge period, but we all don’t want to sacrifice our competitiveness during the bridge just for the future. So we’re just trying to balance both those issues.’’--Theo Epstein (Spring Training 2010)
  5. “We talked about this a lot at the end of the year, that we’re kind of in a bridge period,’’ he said. “We still think that if we push some of the right buttons, we can be competitive at the very highest levels for the next two years. 6. we should have listened to him instead of hoping Beltre and Papi reverted back to their steroid enhanced slugging... So we’re just trying to balance both those issues.’’ Theo Epstein Translation..."The Yankees and Rays are going to kick the s*** out of us for the next year or two...We will try to bring in some pieces that may or may not work out...but if not, oh well...Fenway still sells out and we still have Casey Kelley in the minors. For those of you thinking I am going to gut our system for a chance to win in the next 2 years...hang on 1 second(hearty belly laugh that lasts 5 minutes)"
  7. Saunders is garbage. If the Sox cannot beat him with their best pitcher going..... I don't even know what to say..
  8. Spoken by a father, with a life, he is not going to make his family stay inside when it is 70 degrees. Yeah, what a jerk I am..lol. I did have it on in the car to and from...but I have wasted a good part of my life following these guys...they finally came through in 2004..and 2007..it looks like the Front Office packed it in this year when they didn't try to keep up with the Yankees and left such an embarrassing lineup out there.. The Sox are FINISHED for 2010..watch. I will still watch them every night..but I won't cater my weekend plans around them like I have for the better part of my life...they aren't worth it.. they will be lucky to finish .500.
  9. Like I said...Papi right back to his Craptaculous ways! 0-3 1K, 1 BB... Millwood is a slightly above average pitcher..nothing spectacular..and a righty to boot...Papi can only his AAAA pitchers...he will never touch another 95 MPH fastball.
  10. I am off to the Beach...gonna walk around with baby and mom... these bums don't deserve any of our time. They are f***ing embarrassing.
  11. I hope Ortiz's performance last night increases his microscopic trade value.. He turned on a 90 MPH fastball! My 6 month old daughter could turn on that weak sauce. Ortiz homers should realize he hit his HR's off two of the worst pitchers in Major League Baseball.. Ortiz will be back to striking out today against Millwood...and if that O's closer comes in...he will strike out again..anyone who can throw 93 MPH or higher will K Ortiz with great ease.
  12. back away from the crack pipe..he is finished. He is fouling off average MLB fastballs right down the middle of the plate...when he was David Ortiz..those balls would have been deposited into the bleachers. We cannot afford to wait any longer...TB and NYY are not going to "FALL BACK" to us.. the Sox are going to have to go catch them. Lackey and Lester seemed to have righted their ships...Clay has been good right along.. If Dice and Beckett pitch like I think they will.. we will have the best 1-5 in baseball...and possibly the best set-up closer combo... that being said, we NEED a big bat. Ortiz's poor performance is killing Youks, Vmart.. there is no penalty for walking them or giving them crappy pitches to hack at.. Youks is "less" selective this year than any year I have seen him.. everyone is trying to do more than they should because we have a GAPING abyss in the 5-hole. There is no JASON BAY to cover for Ortiz's poor performance. If we wait until the trade deadline we are going to be 10 games behind Tampa and New York even with our pitching because we cannot score enough runs. It is time young Theo. Time to forget about run prevention, Beltre, and everything else and get this lineup the big bopper it so desperately needs. Dunn, Konerko, I really don't care.. get someone who can hit 30-plus Hr's and drive in 100-plus.. now.
  13. When you are GOOD..they call YOU..ME! Sincerely, Dustin "Pimp Daddy, THE LASER SHOW, MVP" Pedroia
  14. http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/jay_and_silent_bob_strike_back/ Bliggety BLAM! Welcome to the LASER SHOW!
  15. I would like to know what Marco Scutaro found enticing about that fastball at his eyes?
  16. why the f*** are they stealing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NEVER MAKE THE 3rd OUT AT 3rd BASE! Nice move Tito! Why did Beltre not slide into 3rd? Is he on drugs? Seriously..he is f***ing absolutely horrific out there!
  17. thanks my man. I have had it. I would have liked to articulate myself a little better...but I really am fed up.
  18. Ding, Ding, Ding! WE HAVE A WINNER! He is exactly what Lugo is..a bench player. I firmly believe Theo thinks he is smarter than every other GM out there. He thinks he can actually turn garbage into gold. He signed Lugo based on basically, a good 2nd half of a season...Then signs Beltre off a Great 2009..wait..he STUNK in 2009! Theo makes more blunders than good moves IMO. He has gotten by due to the enormous resources he has at his disposal. He is like a .300 hitter, he can fail 7 times out of 10 and still look like gold because the Sox can afford a couple of bad contracts per year. Were Theo the GM of the KC Royals he would have been fired a long, long, time ago. Luckily we can get rid of Beltre after this year and bring in a real 3rd baseman....though I believe we already have one on the bench. I would be pissed too if I were benched for a guy coming off his worst Major League season who now has 5 errors in April.. I would walk right into Tito's office and say "What the f*** Tito?"
  19. I have had it with Ortiz and Beltre.. Ortiz is f***ing TOAST..he cannot catch up to a 93 MPH fastball right down the gut...he is useless to the Red Sox. Mike Lowell can f***ing hit...and play defense BETTER than Beltre..he may not have the range Beltre does...but he f***ing makes the plays when he gets to them..and seriously..how much range do you really need to be a 3-Bagger? Mike still has the quick reflexes.. Theo once again...f***ED up.. I am growing sick and tired of his abyssmal failures.
  20. This is the most moronic post I have seen this year..this guy should be banned for a week....on second thought..BAN this Yankee loving TROLL permanently.. I'd like to kick him in the face.
  21. Papi K's a ton and doesn't hit HR's with regularity. Adam Dunn K's a ton and DOES hit HR's with regularity. This is the guy I would target. His cost would be 1/5 of what it would take to get Gonzalez here. I tell you what..with guys that get on base like Youks/Pedroia... he would be driving in some serious runs. This is the guy I want.
  22. Lackey may be our #5 pitcher if he keeps pitching the way he has so far.
  23. GROW in confidence. This is the only thing preventing him from being our ace IMO. No disrespect to Lester..or Beckett.. but Clay's arsenal is more diverse than even theirs. His 12 to 6 curve is a plus pitch. His fastball has been getting clocked at 97...so he is throwing as hard or harder than either pitcher... His changeup is Hoffman-esque....and he now has a nasty little cutter (87-89 MPH)... He has been burying that cutter in on lefties and throwing it high and in to righties who swing early thinking it is his curve... The one problem Clay has is confidence. I noticed him looking over at the dugout after the Beltre error...wondering if Tito was going to pull him. He kept looking into the dugout..and Tito was just standing there... In the post-game press conference Clay admitted to looking over and not wanting Tito to come out and yank him. The guy was absolutely terrific and worked around Beltre's gaffe. I told my father last year..a game vs. the Yankees where he constantly worked out of trouble created by his infielders and held the Yankees to 2 over 6 IP that he has changed.. he has become the pitcher we all thought he could be..and it is really fun to watch him grow with each outing. mark it down..you are watching a future All-Star.
