  1. It's not the overall spending that's the problem. The problem is that they set a market for each individual player. The player will go out and find a slightly higher contract elsewhere. Sox never stretch themselves to get the guys they want. All those "he's our #1 target" guys just slip through the cracks every offseason. It's embarrassing. Instead of spending $500M, just spend enough on the guys you really want to bring in.
  2. It's what happens when you put all your eggs in the pitching basket.
  3. Every team uses driveline now. I don't think that's the problem. It's the players. Marcelo never showed he was ready at AAA. Roman never showed he could do anything but hit GB's. Story has stunk since leaving COL. Durbin is the same guy he was last year.
  4. That's one way to add power into the lineup.
  5. Duran leads the team in base runners scored % and productive outs %. It doesn't look great, but he'll come around if they just play him everyday.
  6. He has no RBI because the bottom of the order has typically had OPS guys under 600. Nobody is getting on in front of him. Story has had runners on (leads team with 72 runners on when he's at bat, which is why he has so many RBI).
  7. He's played 93 MLB games.
  8. Letting JD go wasn't the problem as his bat was ticking down. Letting Schwarber go as he was the logical replacement for JD was the problem.
  9. Is it a development issue or an issue just at the MLB level?
  10. There are SEVEN Sox with higher called 3rd strike %'s than Anthony.
  11. If Anthony and Story had switched spots in the lineup in each game, the Sox would have scored more runs IMO. There'd be a big black hole at leadoff though.
  12. The top of the order definitely needs that one extra guy. Even having Contreras as the best bat feels a little light. I think he's a great player, but more some of all parts.
  13. He would definitely have more RBI hitting 3rd.
  14. There's a funk and it's much easier to change out a few coaches than it is a few MLB players.
  15. Story also has the worst clutch score on the team, doing all the damage when the Sox are either ahead or the game is out of reach. 🫠
  16. Anthony's OPS would go even higher by not being the first batter of the game (a skill he's horrible at).
  17. Lefty going tonight so you knew IKF was gonna start. 😽
  18. 7.03(b) "A game shall be forfeited to the opposing team when a team is unable or refuses to place nine players on the field."
  19. Gasper and Delay both haven't done all that much with their MLB experience. If people believe in Narvaez's glove, you stick with him. If Wong is hitting, there isn't room for another catcher.
  20. I think Contreras/Suarez/Gray were deals for high quality players. Oviedo was an upside play. Durbin was a musical chairs deal. Brewers were the last team available he could trade with.
