  1. Paulino is having a bad season and has massive splits. I'd put him in any trade.
  2. Abreu is athletic enough to play RF. Long term, the plan is probably Roman Anthony.
  3. Would you be feeling good about that contract for the next decade though?
  4. I hope not. He's in the bottom 5% in BB rate. He has an xERA of 3.86. His LOB% seems unsustainable. You'd have to trade Rafaela to get him or package of Alcantara and Wikelman. Seems like a lot for this version of the Red Sox.
  5. He could finish off this season strong and start 30 games next year and I'd still believe him to be fragile. Houck and Whitlock both had ERA's in the 5's and xFIP's in the 3's. I'm not sure if either would be brought back into a starting role, but could definitely help the pen down the stretch.
  6. I think it's a large reason why that 2018 team was so fun to watch.
  7. And if they really want to get to the sustainability model, they have to care about the farm. Of course the MLB manager is going to be more concerned about the AL East standings than Mayer's development. However, the franchise as whole may be better off if Mayer and the prospects have a great second half than the MLB team.
  8. If they do trade prospects, I need to have faith that development knows which guys they are selling high on.
  9. They protected Hamilton because of the change in the game in regards to base stealing, not due to where he plays defensively. It's well known that he's not a very good SS and that he wasn't really going to be an option for BOS at that position. They were already looking at moving him off position or making him a UTIL last year.
  10. Per BTV: Verdugo ERC for Gerrit Cole
  11. Per BTV numbers: Dylan Cease for Houck Yorke Walter ERC
  12. If he's just putting more effort into the starting rotation, I'm fine with it.
  13. The depth can't be that good if they are still throwing Joe Jacques out there.
  14. I'm fine with those two trades. First trade seems like a lot, but I'm not a big fan of the guys listed.
  15. I agree that they should get a stopgap SS for 2/3's of the year before Mayer is potentially called up.
  16. They have 2 series left with each AL East team. This is their chance to make a move in the division. With reduced divisional play, we've seen more stagnant standings.
  17. We want the April version back!
  18. Trade Story. It's an undermarket contract!
  19. Webb is a good pitcher who has gotten hit a little hard at times this year. Last time out, he gave up 6 ER in 1.1 to the Nats of all teams.
  20. No different than this year. Story's RHB replaces Turner's. Rafaela is a RHB in CF. Refsnyder is still on the bench for tough lefties.
  21. @FishOnFirst Successful hip surgery for Matt Barnes
  22. I figured. We weren't going to get anywhere with it.
  23. Next year for Opening Day it could be: C Wong 1B Casas 2B Story 3B Devers SS Chang RF Verdugo CF Rafaela LF Duran DH Yoshida Defensively, that's a much better unit.
  24. He also colored in his sock with a red sharpie per another catcher on the Sox. Very untrustworthy source!
  25. The only prospects I wouldn't trade are Bleis, Anthony and Mayer. In the right trade, all the other prospects could be dealt.
