  1. Have you seen their OFs the past 4 years? Sir!
  2. Verdugo is 15.3 currently.
  3. No, it'd be a low level guy, which is fine to me.
  4. If that was the case, they would have used Hamilton sooner than they actually did this year. Right?
  5. Kiké was the plan LONG before they reacquired Chang (mid Feb). Alex said that Kiké was going to be the primary SS prior to Spring Training.
  6. There is no logjam in the OF. Adam Duvall will be traded most likely. After this season, Duvall is gone and there will be big questions on how to fill all three OF positions if you move Verdugo. Would Sox be ok with: DH Yoshida LF Duran CF Rafaela RF Abreu/Refsnyder
  7. It's not that I hate your idea, it's just that Verdugo's trade value is higher than what the Sox receive in the trade, even per BTV standards. They'd need to receive an additional arm or prospect for the trade to work out.
  8. The fallback option everyone wanted (Elvis Andrus) hasn't really worked out in CHI either. They weren't going to shell out for Dansby Swanson because of their farm, so they figured they'd just piecemeal it together. Obviously, they should have at least shopped at Target rather than the Dollar Tree for their SS options. Jon Berti was potentially available last offseason, but Sox never struck a deal with the Marlins. He's got a lot of speed, can field a bunch of positions well and as been a positive fWAR guy since coming into the league.
  9. Verdugo Mata for Blackburn Laureano (listed as HIGH on BTV) You can still trade Duvall in another deal.
  10. How is bringing Tony Kemp back helping?
  11. I can't see Bloom saying no to Paulino and Walter for Snell.
  12. They weren't accurate on the Angels trade with the ChiSox.
  13. Why hold onto Duvall too? May as well deal him.
  14. Would have to overpay to bring a perceived high tier starter like Cease or Snell.
  15. Big overpay per BTV.
  16. That's if his defense didn't decline in the harsher weather in BOS. Most of his value has come from his defense this year.
  17. The bigger problem is SP, not SS. If Chang didn't get hurt, the could have suffered through him hitting 150 for the year and have been fine. The issue was having too many oft injured and/or older pitchers lined up to be in the rotation. Figuring out how to fix the rotation going forward needs to be his biggest priority. The offense was fine. The defense will be fine once Mayer is at SS and Rafaela is in CF.
  18. If they are dealing Verdugo, they are done with this season. They could platoon Abreu/Refsnyder in RF. Duran in CF. Yoshida in LF.
  19. Horrible.
  20. Are Wong and Winckowski considered home grown to you? Not being snarky, just asking since they did spend a few years in the system.
  21. BOS: 29th in fWAR at SS (Kiké has -1.5 alone) The only player that has been a better defender at SS than Bogey is Chang (1 DRS, 4 OAA in only 213 innings). Everyone else has been much worse. Chang's 43 wRC+ is holding him back a little though... That whole grouping needs an enema this offseason.
  22. If it's a controlled starter, it'd be a bottom of the rotation one.
  23. They should listen on all trade offers. I mentioned trading Verdugo last year and got similar pushback.
  24. If they are dealing, I'd hold onto Paxton, but deal Duvall and Verdugo. Verdugo could bring a good haul back since he has another year of control. I think there's nothing to the Verdugo rumors though. Paxton should be getting a QO at season's end.
  25. Reyes is a replacement level player.
