  1. A lot of $$$ that should go towards pitching IMO.
  2. Oh yeah. This winter fest could be interesting. Probably won’t have a mic put in front of him.
  3. He knows the market and what the players are worth! It’s not his fault other owners are outspending him!!!
  4. At that point, you’re just making more issues for your team by moving everyone all around and not getting improved defense.
  5. Bench coach, sure.
  6. They had a middle of the road budget for a team that was in the middle of the road in the standings before it took a nose dive after the CBO was fired.
  7. I haven't watched the past few games, because why bother? I probably won't watch until the Sunday finale when I go see my Grandfather In Law who I haven't seen in weeks since my family has been fighting off various illnesses and we didn't want to get him sick.
  8. When DD came aboard, did he fire Farrell immediately?
  9. The psychic cat sees all.
  10. My second guess was Quinnipiac.
  11. Sorry, that's just what the psychic cat was telling me.
  12. I think the argument was Eflin instead of Kluber?
  13. I think if they only have #3 starters, it gets them just good enough. They really need to go all in on a guy that can lead the staff.
  14. Even if he had to "stay cheap" he should have allocated his resources in a different manner. It was just poor spending to ignore the SP the way he did. Anyway, this is the Prospects thread in the Minors forum...
  15. https://twitter.com/SotoC803/status/1707611475299188787 Sox have a 11% chance to get a #6 pick or higher.
  16. Bloom's issue was that he gave every MLB player a preset value and wouldn't budget on that value when handing out contracts. That's why we wound up with a lot of mediocre FA guys. The FA market went up and he wasn't willing to pay those prices. He wasn't willing to improve the MLB team at the trade deadline because he was never willing to "lose" on a trade because of his preassigned values he had on players. He was more apt to sit back and stay with what he already had as the market passed him by.
  17. If Masa rebounds, Story returns to form and the kids in the OF stay consistent, adding an ace pitcher would actually go a long way. A large part of the reason this team fell apart was that the bullpen was overtaxed.
  18. That's not what Cora said though. He said the goal for Chris Sale's offseason would be to work towards trying to pitch the first game in Seattle, not that Cora was handing it to him.
  19. If Bloom won 85 games in '22 and '23, he'd still have a job. His lack of thought towards the starting rotation this season is what doomed him. His poor communication with the players is why last season's team tanked.
  20. I think they are going to try camel through the eye of a needle. Might work?
  21. And I don't think it was an insurmountable disaster. I think there are ways that good organizations can work around the last few years of a dead contract. The Dodgers seem to be able to do with with Trevor Bauer and still have Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, Clayton Kershaw, Chris Taylor, etc.
  22. At some point, they need to be the BOSTON RED SOX and stop penny pinching a little. I get that they can't go over the CBT every year, but Sale is coming off the books next season. Having one bad contract isn't going to kill a 230M budget.
  23. I think it's a different mentality for sure. Some guys can probably keep going. Some guys probably need the additional playoff push. The 162 games are really a slog. I can see how the end of a non-playoff year is like letting the air out of a balloon.
  24. Verdugo has turtled since the trade deadline (655 since ASB). Turner is slowing down due to age/injuries (543 OPS in Sept). Story has just been bad since coming back (543 OPS). Masa 607 Sept. Rafaela 697 Sept. Fine? Duvall 479 Sept. Wong 553 Sept. Urias 658 Sept. McGuire 478 Sept. Reyes 431 Sept. Valdez, Devers and Abreu are the only guys hitting.
