  1. If they can trade Sale this offseason, they should.
  2. I hope the Sox can get two TOTR arms, but I just don't believe they can do it.
  3. With Sale, if you can slot him in as the #5 it give you hope that he can be a mid rotation starter playing up. Pivetta is just a #5. Let's get more out of the rotation. It should be: Yamamoto Bello Montgomery Crawford Sale Sale is a better pitcher than Crawford, but you can't count on him to carry the load for 32 games. If Wikelman can keep marching along, adding him to the rotation in the 2nd half could be a big improvement. Maybe he can slide in for Sale? Maybe he slides in for Crawford if Sale is actually still pitching well? Monegro/Perales are still late 25 at the earliest. Those are the only high octane guys in the minors right now in sniffing distance of a rotation spot that could be better what Crawford already is.
  4. It's good to know that your eye test supersedes both old school counting stats and new school metrics. Literally any argument you will come up with is supported by "well, that's what I saw so it must be true." What I SAW out of Raffy was that he remains one of the best hitters in the game. He hits the absolute piss out of the ball more often than every other batter. If he was in Philly, he'd probably hit 50 HR's every year.
  5. Kluber threw 164 innings in 2022. Wacha hasn't thrown that much in a year since 2017.
  6. They are paying him for his production, not to be a leader.
  7. Sale will definitely be in the rotation. Bello Acquisition Sale Crawford Pivetta That's what it's going to look like. You can write it down apparently if you guys want Pivetta in the rotation.
  8. We need the rotation to be better. Pivetta can barely even get a QS every few games. Sale will also most likely be in the rotation. That's two slots that are very underwhelming.
  9. He was the best player on the team. 33 HR 100 RBI Those are numbers that old school guys used to like?
  10. I'd rather Crawford as a #5 than Pivetta.
  11. Good enough me for the #9 hitter.
  12. If his defense was just league average, he would have been fine. Also, why are LFers a dumpster fire now?
  13. Raffy is great. He was just surrounded by the Island of Misfit Toys. Justin Turner collapsed at the end of the year due to age. Duvall missed half the year due to the injury. Verdugo sucked after the ASB because he's Alex Verdugo. IF Trevor Story can come back strong next year, he can really slide nicely between Casas and Devers. We just haven't seen it over an extended period of time while he's been here. Big questions at the top of the lineup.
  14. Pass. I want a guy that can pitch all year. He's a worse pitcher than he was in 2021, but is getting paid substantially more.
  15. Counting on Pivetta to be a decent starter is laughable to me. The "he's the best 5th starter in MLB" isn't much to write home about. The Sox need to do better. It's fine if he's a long reliever that can start 10 games a year. If he's in the starting rotation on Opening Day, miss me with that.
  16. I don't think he was sulking. I think he was embarrassed by his own play.
  17. Kluber doesn't have durability issues. Kluber has an age issue and is ready for retirement. He's just a horse that needs to be put down. He could throw 180 innings, but would have a 7 ERA. Wacha would pitch better, but couldn't stay healthy.
  18. "Lost on a bloop." Nick Johnson pops out to SS. Jeter 2B to RF Bernie 1B to CF Matsui Groundrule 2B Posada 2B to CF Embree comes in and gets an out, 0 R. Timlin comes in and gets 4 outs, 0 R. Seems like they should have gone to the pen?
  19. Timlin, Embree and Williamson all gave up 0 runs that postseason. You needed six outs and had 3 other very capable guys to do it.
  20. Embree, Lowe, Timlin, Arroyo and Williamson all were pitching great out of the pen that postseason. You're misremembering how good that pen was at the time.
  21. Duvall did come up as a corner IF. Maybe he can play backup 1B in 24 as well?
  22. 78-84 Sox sign only one decent SP this offseason. Lots of questions going into next year.
  23. Ugly baseball from O’s backup squad.
  24. With the focus on the minor league talent being bats, I just find it hard to believe they’d spend big on long term external hitters like Chapman.
