  1. For a guy that is supposedly a "baseball guy" he has some really dumb takes.
  2. Beltre is the only one that should have stayed.
  3. They don't seem like good Fitts.
  4. Just wait until Wong is replaced by Teel and someone else. Then we can have this same conversation.
  5. The trade could have been worse: @TonyMassarotti Hmm. Think the Red Sox could have gotten Stanton for Verdugo? Just remember this for the next time someone wants to quote this GOOBER.
  6. What are you guys complaining about? MLBPipeling (the greatest of all prospect evaluations) says Dick Fitts is better than Luis Perales! @BOSSportsGordo Newly acquired Richard Fitts slots in as @MLBPipeline’s #10 Red Sox prospect and their #2 pitching prospect. He’s behind Wikelman Gonzalez in their Sox pitching prospect rankings.
  7. It was DUMB. I understand why we can't stop relitigating it. I don't think it's smart to keep Verdugo just because you traded Betts for him though.
  8. Per MLBTradeRumors: Boston doesn’t need to add (Fitts) to the 40-man roster until next offseason to keep him out of the Rule 5 draft, but it’s possible he pitches his way into the MLB rotation mix at some point during the summer.
  9. Which guy is Rule 5 eligible? Fitts was drafted in '21, Judice in '23 and Weissert was on the 40 man.
  10. On Beni vs Verdugo: Since 2020 Beni 4.1 fWAR Verdugo 7 fWAR I'm not seeing the comp here? Most of Beni's value came from 2018 when he had 5 fWAR, a season he has never replicated again. He may be a true one hit wonder.
  11. He was the centerpiece? I thought the prize was the highly rated Jeter Downs who flamed out?
  12. Current Scouting Grades Verdugo: Speed 45 Field 50 Abreu: Speed 55 Field 55
  13. Playing in AAA.
  14. C'mon, the Dodgers would totally trade Mookie to the Sox for the grab bag I posted...
  15. His comments were very lukewarm on Dalbec IMO. It was basically that he has the opportunity to be a backup. Ok? I don't think it's written in stone.
  16. Abreu has a cannon and would be a great everyday RFer, but we don't know if his bat would hold up for 162.
  17. Ownership just realized they didn't want to pay what it would take to keep him so they let him go. It was a stupid decision. It was Ruthian level bad.
  18. I hope he has a career year and the Yanks sign him to an Ellsbury deal.
  19. That's all it was. They got some arms that the scouts may have liked.
  20. Cora made a point to mention that he wanted to focus on everyone competing from day one in Spring Training. It is clear that Verdugo isn't fully invested in being a MLBer 100% of the time. He shows up late and gets benched for in game issues. His ceiling isn't super high. I think they'd rather have a guy busting their ass out there with less talent than a guy with more talent just coasting through their career.
  21. BREAKING: The New York Yankees are acquiring outfielder Alex Verdugo in a trade with the Boston Red Sox for right-handeres Richard Fitts, Greg Weissert and Nicholas Judice, sources familiar with the deal tell ESPN.
  22. Wow, the could have just DFA'd him. They never used the cost savings in '23.
  23. It's not the route I'd go.
  24. I worry he falls back to earth and he's more of a 4/5.
