  1. I don't see a difference between 4th and 5th place. Both are pretty terrible. The winning % may be a bigger indicator IMO.
  2. If it takes a month or two for Yamamoto to adjust, the season is over for that rotation. They’d need to be carried by a CY performance to be respectable.
  3. Sale - injury risk is high Houck - 5th starter Pivetta - 5th starter Crawfor - 5th starter Whitlock - injury risk
  4. 300 with opt out?
  5. Even if it’s just Yamamoto, they need to add to the rotation IMO.
  6. If it was his first TJS, I’d be much less concerned.
  7. A world class DH. The vast majority of 2x TJS guys don’t come back the same. It’s too much money to for the gamble IMO.
  8. I think Turner was fine. Get multiple DH types was a bad choice for sure.
  9. B most likely. His contract is going to be an overpay for a guy coming off his 2nd TJS.
  10. One of which is developing pitching. Another is an owner that can’t stay the course.
  11. I think he got scared by the Vaz blowback and was too indecisive to pull off a last second deal in ‘22. In ‘23, he just turtled because he wanted to stay as far away from the cap as possible and then wait for a deadline deal that he was unable to pull off.
  12. Well Turner worked out at least.
  13. Thanks to going over in ‘22 for no reason.
  14. There's a high variance for all prospects. Sox just do better with hitters for some reason. Since 1980: Hurst Boyd Clemens Lester Paplebon Buchholz Bello TBD vs Gedman Boggs Burks Greenwell Vaughn Valentin Nomar Nixon Pedroia Youk Ellsbury Mookie JBJ Xander Devers Beni Casas TBD
  15. We're competitive!
  16. 2. Weird about Roman since Mayer was awful in AA and Roman was good in a SSS. 4. No, Rafaela will never fix his plate discipline. He will always swing at everything he can reach. 6. If they trade Verdugo, Abreu will be featured heavily for the '23 Sox IMO. I think he's fine as the 4th OFer since he can play all 4 positions. 7. No. 8. My guess is that '23 looks similar to '22 and that his bat is not transcendent. At least his glove is adequate now. I'd trade him. 9. He has a better chance to start than #7. 10. We won't know until '25 most likely. He'll most likely tear up the FCL. He won't see advanced pitching until Salem.
  17. That's why I want to trade Mayer (SS) for a pitcher. Also, if they drafted more pitchers, are we sure they would have been developed properly? Their pipeline hasn't really been great in my lifetime.
  18. I never bought into it either. The smokescreen about him being a New Balance guy was DUMB.
  19. And it's not that Mayer is a BAD prospect. He's still a good prospect. I just believe Anthony and Teel could be franchise type players. Maybe they don't pan out...
  20. Prior to coming to BOS, he played 91% of every game. He also has a career 265 average and is signed through '27. Once Story's contract is closer to its conclusion, any number of prospects could be ready since the Red Sox HAVE DRAFTED AND SIGNED VIA IFA A METRIC f***TON OF SHORTSTOPS in the past few years (Zanetello, Cespedes, Anderson, Alcantara, Arias, etc.).
  21. I'd hang onto Teel and Anthony. I think all the other prospects could be had in the right trade.
  22. Gambrell could be an emergency starter if needed. I don't know if Penrod could do so reliably. More likely that Penrod is just thrown into a pen somewhere.
  23. It's one thing that I don't know if I'll ever get over and I wasn't a Mookie superfan.
  24. Would be deserving in this instance.
  25. IDK, but we may find out.
