  1. He will NEVER master the strike zone. You get what you get with him. Why force something on him that will give you worse returns?
  2. Werner is a minority opinion who is put in front of the camera. There are many voices in the org, Werner's is one that gets drowned out. As I've said for a long time, Werner WANTS to spend. Henry does not. Werner will continue to advocate for spending. Right now, Henry has been able to shuffle the CBO's enough where nobody has been able to convince him to spend since DD in the afterglow of the WS.
  3. JBJ part 2, but the lesser version. When's Taylor's decline?
  4. Michael A Taylor has a career 29.9% k rate. Why should Rafaela learn now? When he tried to be more patient last season, his production dropped.
  5. @gingersnaphyde Gonna miss my ginger brotherin Justin Turner. Solid bat & good guy. However, if the Red Sox are looking for a RHH vs LHP, Garrett Cooper is a solid + cheaper option. Turner in 23’ vs LHP- .285/.372/.528, 142 WRC+, $13M Cooper in 23’ vs LHP- .324/.375/.529, 145 WRC+, est $5-6M
  6. Like Greenwell playing C or Vaz playing 2B?
  7. Why bring Taylor in when you already have Rafaela? Aren't they the same profile?
  8. A one year deal for a weak side platoon bat is nothing to worry about. At some point, maybe that spot is taken over by Blaze Jordan (993 OPS vs LHP in '23).
  9. If there is a clear path forward that we can believe in, I don't mind if the results don't show in the standings. We should be able to see the results in the minors and on the development of young players over the course of the year in BOS.
  10. The Pirates and Marlins who both swept them last year?
  11. In 9 pro appearances at 3b (18-19), he has 3 errors.
  12. Hamilton doesn't have the arm for 3B. Meidroth still hasn't really hit above high A. Yorke?
  13. Yes, it's fine for a cheap, short term option. Better than Dalbec.
  14. Sammy Wormtongue said payroll would probably be less than last season.
  15. They needed a backup RHB at 1B. It's fine. Who backs up 3B. Reyes?
  16. That is how it's going to work the next few years. Most of the additions will be with unproven, younger players.
  17. Paxton - 1.0 fWAR, 4.50 ERA, 96 Innings How could we ever replace that production?!?!?! Rafaela could match Verdugo's fWAR if he played CF everyday and OPS'd under 700. Verdugo's 2023 is the most overrated Red Sox season in recent history.
  18. Sox are now putting their attention towards Garrett Cooper as a platoon bat.
  19. @adamjpeddle Justin Turner 2023 stats ranked amongst Blue Jays: BA .276 (2nd) OBP .345 (T-1st) SLG .455 (2nd) OPS .800 (2nd) Runs 86 (2nd) RBI’s 96 (1st) 🔥 HRs 23 (2nd)
  20. @_ParkTheBus Blue Jays fans not wanting Justin Turner isn’t too surprising. They’ve only been watching baseball for a couple years so give them a pass.
  21. Jacoby was a 4.2 fWAR guy in year 2. I don't think anyone saw that 9 fWAR coming or thought a second would show up. Xander had 4.6 fWAR in his second full year and SS is a notoriously stacked position, so All Star voting would be a hard measure there. You're underselling how good he was early on. Gunnar in BAL won the ROY with 4.6 fWAR last season. Adley has had back to back 5 fWAR seasons. Those two helped bring that team to the playoffs without needing to get to 9 fWAR or whatever. Will this crop of players feature the next Mookie Betts? Probably not! Mookie Betts is an all time great.
  22. Angels signed Aaron Hicks. Are the Sox the only bidders left on Duvall now?
  23. I don't expect it to happen again. They've lost the goodwill with me.
  24. If they NEVER say yes, this team will NEVER get back to the World Series without a complete overhaul of the pitching pipeline. That will take YEARS.
