  1. I wonder if they look into keeping Anthony up the middle, which would then just be replacing Duran's LHB with Anthony's LHB.
  2. 1. yes 2. Houck will be in the rotation 3. yes 4. maybe? I want to believe. 5. maybe on Bello, but Crawford will be about the same which is ok 6. sure 7. doubt it 8. less about the option and more about his continued sweeper use 9. unbelievable...
  3. I won't even watch all of the games in the first week. 7 of the first 10 games start at 9:40 pm or later for me.
  4. It was over before it began.
  5. Who knows? He hit 4 seamers well before coming to BOS. Was the decline injury driven?
  6. @ChrisCotillo Such a notable line here from @alexspeier: "If the Sox have a lower payroll... It would mark the first time under this ownership that the team reduced payroll for tax purposes by design in back-to-back years." "Hurr durr, why did you guys expect them to actually spend this offseason?"
  7. Serious playoff contention. 87-88 wins.
  8. If Bauer is unsigned this offseason, we can look forward to talking about him all year.
  9. If they are going with what they got, don't expect all that much improvement from last year.
  10. It's better than yesterday afternoon discourse!
  11. People are saying the Sox should trade players, because the owners have explicitly stated that they will not spend further on the team. The only way to get better is via trade.
  12. Low risk, low reward IMO. 80-82 season.
  13. Get your own freakin' catchphrase. As said by moonslav the day Chris Sale was traded for back in 2016.
  14. You thought it was a simple can of peanuts, but it was a springy snake motherf***er!!!
  15. @rotoworld_bb Report: Trevor Story looks "explosive" in workouts
  16. So exactly was whining again? I went back and read the past few pages and didn't see any whining. Is it whining simply because it's something you don't want us to talk about?
  17. I saw a headline that stated how impressed Winckowski was with the new offseason program and how all these big changes were implemented by Bailey. We'll have to see what impacts, if any, are seen this year. "We can't get you players, but how about a new coach!?!?"
  18. Both had similar xFIP, innings, k/9, but Gibson was a much more consistent innings eater. With Sale and Paxton projected to be part of the rotation, they would need someone certain to pick up the slack for two guys coming off injuries and may be limited. Gibson is a 30 game a year guy. He's going to take the ball every 5th day. With Kluber, there was still the question mark of the recent injury history and age catching up to him. Gibson is the ground ball, pitch to contact guy who you know what you're going to get out of year to year. That rotation needed more consistency. We even said so last offseason. Kluber, Paxton and Sale in the rotation at the same time was a significant amount of uncertainty. Gibson isn't a sexy FA signing, but he's a Porcello type that can get you to the pen in good shape most days.
  19. If the prospects were going to be wearing BOS jerseys on Opening Day, maybe it'd be a different story. Right now, it's a waiting game for a whole 'nother year.
  20. I think Old Red just reads every moon post and assumes the tone is whiney. IDK. It's fine to talk about a bad Sox team and state the division foes kicked their asses in September of '23. Is that whining? I don't think so. It's just what happened. I'm not even Dinelson Lamenting it.
  21. Bo Bichette will never learn how to run the bases. I don't know how much coaching they did in that farm system...
  22. They were 1-7 against TBR prior to Sept. They were above .500 against TOR, NYY and BAL.
  23. I guess we're at the WERE THE 2023 BOSTON RED SOX ACTUALLY GOOD stage of the offseason. The answer is obviously no.
  24. If there was no interleague play (the worst), they would have been .500.
